I had 600 of these decals screen printed by a nationally known co. Many are offset to the right as bad as the first one but I think they’re good enough to pass for the customer.

This would not be the first time I’ve been accused with being to picky but a lot are as far off as #2...which is not expectable by my standards.

There are several as far out of whack as #3

There are 3 dozen with orange out of place like #4 or worse. How do they let those that are as bad as #3 & #4 even leave their place.

I have not counted but of the 600 there are easily over half that I will not take to my customer and I’m not happy with most of the one’s I will take to them!

Is it unreasonable to expect better registration than this…or are the top two the norm.

This is why I HATE out sourcing work!

Just out of curiosity Jeff, what size are they and what did you pay for 600 including setups...

I'd refuse to accept the job they sent you.

Hmmm... the black seems to register fairly consistently with the orange, it's the light blue (that sets up the white outline) that seems to be wandering all over the place.

a little off that you i can tell is fine. but that number three, hell no. they would be getting a call from me.

who printed these i know stouse did not do it. i had some business cards printed one time and they came back like this and they blamed my art.

these are unacceptable no further discussion needed!

There is nothing wrong with expecting quality work. If they were printing it for themself would they be happy with the outcome? Doubt it. The customer is not going to walk away and say well his printer messed up, they will say "the sign guy ****** up my stickers.

These are 3.25”x 6”…the blue is the backer…they were cut to shape…printed on white vinyl.

I don’t want to publicly bash the supplier but I’ll e-mail you Bruce to let you know who did them.

Same thing for your price question Mike.

Thanks Jeff [Smile]

Might sneek a "couple" like 1 or 2 in if I had to.
Nothing like 3 would ever leave our shop (except in the dumpster)
I'll bet whoever runs the shop never saw them and will fix as soon as they do see ... that's pretty bad.

I agree with Mark.

Jeff, if I were you, I'd contact the manufacturer and give him the opportunity to correct the situation. If he has an employee who cares this little about the quality of his work, I would think he would want to know.

It looks like someone was having a bad day. I would reject the job, then contact the printer and politely ask them to make it right a.s.a.p.
I agree that this is why soutsourcing sometimes sucks, but I'm not perfect either. I judge my suppliers by how they react when things go wrong and what they do to fix the issue. So, give them the chance to make things right and let us know how they respond.

Jeff,
They wouldn't have made it out the door here. SOP here would have been an over run of at least 50 pcs to compensate for any poorly registered product.

I agree with Mark and Glenn. The employees probably packed them up and shipped them out without the boss even seeing them not wanting to run the job all over again. Being that small they probably ran them 8 to 10 up is my guess. Looks like the ink bled some on the last one around the orange. Someone wasn't paying attention or most likely smoked a little too much weed at lunch!

Never get work done on Fridays. [Eek!]

That's another reason I don't always like to outsource. We recently got some 10'x5' pan faces done and the paint had dark streaks in it. We sent them back. They sent new ones and the streaks were gone but the Lexan had bubbles and knots in it. [Roll Eyes]

We had a cabinet made for another job and the paint looked like they had opened the can and poured the paint on. There were puddles on the top and log drips on the sides.

It's really sad that some folks don't take pride in their work. I would get them to make it right.

It takes the same amount of time to put them into register as it does to mis-register them. wouldn't have made it out of here either
