I walked outside to drag the trashcan to the curb tonight. I walked past the truck on my way up the driveway but something wasn't right - you know how you can just feel when something isn't how it's supposed to be? I couldn't see crap because there are no streetlights and I didn't have any outside lights on, I just felt a weird energy.

I walked by the truck again, this time running my hand along the bodywork and then I found it - the driver's door wasn't closed all the way. Sonofabitch somebody was messin' with it - I knew right then and there because I NEVER leave the door open like that - the door hinges are tweaked and it takes a good slam to close the door all the way therefore I check the door twice every time I get out to make sure it's closed. Truck has no dome light so I open the garage and hit the lights. Sure enough, stuff was rifled through inside.

Nothing was taken but it ****es me off that somebody, probably one of the neighbor kids' buddies (they had a group over visiting tonight), would go through someone's vehicle like that. It ****es me off even more that I have to worry about a vehicle parked on my own damn driveway - that's one of the reasons I was so happy to leave St Louis.

Sorry to hear Mike. I am fortunate to be able to park inside the garage and have it locked nice and safe. We've had late night looters coming around vehicles in the neighbourhood lately.

Yeah, Mike I can understand. I had my S-10 broken into 3 times, but not at the same location. The worst was it was parked in a carport in my parents house, and everybody was home. They ended up taking all of my stereo equipment. Thats when I had enough, and shaved the handles off it.

Now I'm lucky enough to have a 2 bay garage that I keep my project truck and both my motorcycles.

My dad called me a couple of weeks ago, and someone torched his truck right in their driveway. It ended up burning that truck to a crisp, scorching the back of my mom's bronco, but it didn't catch the house on fire.

I just don't understand what is wrong with people nowadays...

Right with ya, last weekend at my house in MY driveway the wife and I came out to do our daily running Sunday morning and found her dash ripped apart and stereo gone... She just sat there looking at the dash...

1500v 30ma transformer will do just fine. Watch em light up.
There was a guy I heard about... He spent the better part of the morning meeting in the john. So the boys hooked up a couple of screws thru the bottom of the toilet seat. They filed them real smooth (undetectable by the human butt) and ran some wires from the transformer to the screws. The guys in the shop waited about a minute or two, just enough time for the guy to "settle in" The rest of the story involves a hole in the bathroom wall in the exact shape of the former occupant. He got the message.

You know that locks only keep honest people honest. The rest is up to their parents and the cops.
Good luck.

Hey Mark, shaving the door handles came to mind last night, maybe this will motivate me to finally get to it. [Smile]

These guys I guess were just in a mood to mess around without really doing or taking anything or they didn't find what they were looking for. There was plenty for the taking, CD's, stereo equipment (probably couldn't figure out how to snag it cause it's all bonded or welded into place), inline skates, sweaty socks, etc. What, you don't have sweaty socks in your vehicles?? [Smile] Hmm maybe mine repelled them.

Wayne, years ago my dad worked the gas patch and there was always things coming up missing out of the company pick-ups. He found a harmless garden snake out on 1 location, threw it in the cab, would feed it parts of his sandwiches. Never had anyone touch his truck again. [Rolling On The Floor]

One better. Set up the camera on a tall pole with a trigger that drenches anyone trying to get to said camera in "skunk scent". (Skunk scent is available wherever fine hunting apparel is sold. [Wink]

I always lock my truck no matter where I go. I've lost a couple of mag lites, which isn't much, but it's enough to make blood boil.

No neighborhood is immune. There is always some knucklehead eager to steal or destroy things that don't belong to them. On the flip side, I'm amazed how honest most people are.

I know a guy who strung up a bunch of fish hooks under his dash, and when he came out and found the guy, called the police who carried them both away. Booby trapping is illegal - probably worth it, but illegal.

I remember when my car stereo was stolen, I went driving through the bad neighborhoods. There was a guy installing a stereo that immediately got up from the car and started bowing up, staring me down. I didn't have the kahunas to stop, but I figured I had found the guy.

If I recall correctly, someone else parked in your garage a while back, and it didn't matter to him that the door was shut and locked.

A couple of weeks ago I discovered someone had gotten into my Camaro out in my garage and stole my custom painted helmet out of the back seat. I hadn't noticed but tonight I took it for the first ride of the spring and the little bastards stole my shifter knob too. All the crap in my garage and they take that stuff.

If I see them anywhere near my garage again I'll see if they can out run a 12 gauge slug!

Nooooo... my excuse for not painting it is that the bodywork isn't finished [Smile] I've almost given in to the thought of putting a full vinyl wrap right over the primer though <ducking>

Parking in the garage only adds a layer to the little thieves. I had someone kick open my garage man door and bust the window on my pick up.

I keep nothing worth stealing in my truck and it still didn't stop the POS.

Mike I can relate - coupla years ago went to letter some windows for a Bail Bond Co. in Downtown Memphis, TN. This was 12 noon - within sight of huge Justice Center complex/Jai/Police Station - 1 way streets jammed so had to park behind building - big mistake - I had grabbed my patterns & tape , ruler & got patterns taped up - went back to car to get other supplies after no longer than 12-15 minutes - not one but 2 windows smashed in with a chunk of asphalt - this was a Ford Escort wagon - $900 in glass damage alone - they got a small tool kit, an el cheapo sabre saw, cordless drill...but the kicker was they got my small cooler with my lunch & drinks - I had Tuna Fish sandwiches -LOADED- with Louisiana Hot Sauce (that's how my wife always fixes em for me) - -I hope it made 'em sick as Hell cuz I know it was one of the hoboes - homeless addicts that hang around there - you know they ate 'em - had noticed a group of 5 or 6 when I circled the block to park behind the alley. I composed myself, parked around front to finish my job - by Damn I'm parkin right where I am now, forget the zone!!! A cop happened by slowly in traffic right after I parked by my windows, flagged him down & told him whut had just transpired, he half-assed listened then told me I had to call it in - he didn't have no prisoner or anything - this is is plain view of major police dept. - - -YEAH that's why I like to pay taxes. . . . .nuff said, Carl
