I saw a product called "Vinyl-Off 10-4" advertised in the Digital Graphics magazine. It states it is a breakthrough product that is non-flammable, biodegradable, non-toxic, and water soluble.

The instructions say "Just apply, wait 15 minutes, and then peel off the vinyl and the adhesive in one step.

Anyone ever hear of this product or try it?

Hiya Randy,
I saw a similar post on another board. THis is what I replied to there...
"I would stay away from that stuff for one reason. On the front page they show some penske graphics being removed, and I know that those graphics are printed on removable vinyl. I've stripped many of the penske trucks over the years and never had a need for adhesive remover..."

Havin' fun,

There have already been products like this on the market.

3M's Woodgrain and Stripe Remover which penetrates the vinyl.

Klean Strip's "Sticker Shock" in a spray can does the same thing.

GROG gel.

Vinyl-Off better work REALLY well at $65 a gallon. Obviously it's for removing either large jobs or very stubborn old worn out baked-on ones because we can make some good headway in the 15 minute wait required using it.

I tried the Grog gel, which sounds like it would be the same thing.
Grog took the factory paint off Alumalite, and on a vehicle's factory paint, you could see where I wiped it with a cloth. It "softened" the paint.
Yeah it took off the vinyl and adhesive, but I prefer having the paint remain when I remove the graphics, that's just me.

I got the free sample, tried it on a real old graphic on an old truck, made it come off a little easier, but not by much, still left all the glue on. Probally not worth the extra trouble.

I tried Grog on aluminum and on the bottom of the leg on a directory sign (a place that is under the bushes).

both times it took the paint off with it. I'd be leery about trying it on a vehicle.

If it was possible to build a product to remove vinyl and adhesive without taking off the paint or damaging the substrate in any way, well, I would make it !!

LOL Roger! Honestly, though, I believe you!

I still use your products and they remain in my shop daily.

My vinyl removal method isn't too difficult, either.
1. Put heat lamps next to the vinyl on the vehicle.
2. Wait a few minutes, then peel the vinyl off.
3. Use Rapid Remover to clean up the adhesive.

And I use Rapid Tac on almost every install. I trust you and your products. I really wasn't looking for something new, but just curious as to their claims.

The most time-consuming step in vinyl removal, for me, has been the snot residue of the adhesive. The vinyl itself is (usually) easily removed as described above. There's no need to melt automotive paint to accomplish that, or to wipe away the snot. Chemically, we're talking colloid-liquid containment at room temperatures. I can do that with mineral spirits and powder, and if I can do it faster with Rapid Remover, then I'll use Rapid Remover

I usually just use gasoline for the adhesive residue removal. Works like a charm and I always got some hanging around in my non flammable truck!

Roger, thank you very much. Fortunately, I don't have to remove vinyl these days. However, if your offer is mine to do with as I please, then I would like to give it to somebody who needs to know. Any suggestions are welcome, and the best story gets it. Perhaps a contest for this free Rapid-Roger sample?

Actually, I would just buy Roger's products in the first place. If they didn't work I'd never buy them again, and if they did I'd buy them all the time. That risk is minimized substantially when one considers the endorsements from people on this site. So, who can write a good essay about Why I need free samples, or somebody else does?

No problem Roger. In fact I still want to become a distro. (remember way back when, when I asked you about it? lol) but I'm too lazy to get a smoother online ordering system up on my website first to automate the sales processing. [Smile]

Its similar to the 5 gal bottles with pour spigots.
