Is it just my perception or does it actually seem that lately there are far more "negative" posts than "positive" posts?
Grampa Dan excluded, of course!!!
I came back off a 3 month vacation, visited with my friend Ken Henry and took care of business with him (THANK YOU KEN FOR COVERING MY BUTT!!!) Then started visiting my regular clients to let them know I was back "in town".
As of today I have a LOT of work waiting to be done. (serious dollars)
I really don't have time to be concerned about whether Gemini sells to folks other than sign people, whether Chinese cars are going to be imported into the North American market, whether Avery and 3M vinyl are the same, whether Wal Mart is the devil in disguise, or whether God's first name is God or whatever.
I prefer to look at the positive side of things. Life is good, work is plentiful, I have my health and the only things to complain about are things that I can't change.
There is no sense in complaining since complaining doesn't change a thing. All we have to do is get out there and make the best of what is available to us.
And I can assure you that there is a LOT out there, if you only look for it.
If you persue the work you'll be too busy to complain about stuff that you can't change and doesn't matter in the long run.
Thank you for listening to my rant..I will now step off the soap box and let others refute my ideas!!

Dave, you must be psychic. You managed to put my thoughts into words. I can understand certain people needing to vent from time to time, but it would be nice to also hear about positive things that happen in their lives.
My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone. Posts: 3129 | From: Tooele, UT | Registered: Mar 2005

generally speaking for myself, I BITCH! i like to bitch and complain. i dont know why but it seems more pudding gets stirred when you bitch about stuff.
products these days suck, no warranty. one shot sucks, no quality. avery sucks, wont compensate for peoples loss. competition is constantly beating us down, along with kinkos. federal govt wants you to pay $2 on every $1 you make. their retirement plan sucks for my future. aluminum and gas prices fluctuate more that the stock market.....but if i had to be positive:
I enjoy this business, i still learn new things. i meet cool clients (some of them)i have freedom with this job.Oh and i get to bitch!

The pussy willows are out, as are the daffodills. It's ALMOST warm enough for shop time with the doors open. I do lunch with pals as often as possible. LODI IS COMING! love- Cat

hmmmm ... yup, I noticed the health post (something I view as positive) always slips into oblivion pretty fast.
I just thought more folks would make healthy life improvements a priority in their lives.
Thinking negative thoughts, and complaining about stuff instead, ... well heck, that just adds stress. That doesn't benefit anyone's overall well being. I mean, it's good to vent every now and then, ... but becoming proactive gets you farther.
The way I see it, one very basic place to start, is within yourself. The stronger you are, physically and mentally, the better you can handle all life throws at you.
Seriously, without our health, what really do we have? ... right? It's just not all about the physical fitness stuff either.
Dave, you want more positive posts?, ... participate in the ones already in play, or start more of them yourself.
Perpetuate what you want, and spread the love amigo! heehee.

Yup, but sometimes it just feels so GOOD to whine about something! I get it off my chest and move on. As long as they are sign-related bitching topics, that's OK. Nobody wants to read a post about a hangnail or hemmorhoids tho. I get annoyed with OT topics that are not marked as such. And ones where people are openly ripping up someone else in a pack-type mentality. And the ones who try and sneak in forbidden topics under the guise of humor. Another thing...when I am depressed, all the happy-clappy topics tend to make me even more so. It's OK, Dave, I am glad that Ken held down the fort for you and life is good. My life is pretty good right now too. Love....Jill

I was talking on the phone to a Letterhead the other day and he described a few here as "my favorite pessimists". I delighted in that. I guess some people just have a hard time seeing that we have a choice. We are all human and for the most part have pretty much the same ratios of good and bad in our lives. There are a few pessimists here I am for the most part very fond of. I think that now that winter is drawing to a close things may brighten up some. I'm a pretty positive person, but I have commented on some of the negative threads. What I see is there are a few people who are always negative, never post on anything positive unless it's to try to make it negative. Negativity breeds negativity, if your life is negative, you've got to take the initiative to change it yourself.

Aw crap! You mean I cannot start a post on hemmorhoids?!! And I was really ( ) itching to do that.
Seriously...my apologies on ranting about Chinese crap....I got overly passionate about my personal preference to buy quality goods made by friendly governments.
Hey, when I wanted a good quality sign support...I went to Mike Berry. I knew I was going to get good USA quality AND help out a "neighbor."
And guess what? I wasn't disappointed. Nice workmanship Mike!!

Well gee, lets just paint the whole world pretty shades of yellow and blue. The world aint all roses and candy, and some like to express things going on in their shops or lives and maybe get some words from some of us that might make them feel better. Myself, I like reading the little ins and outs of signmaking, good and bad. Heck Dave, you just came back from several months on vacation, why wouldnt you feel great? Every day aint happy day for everybody. Things go wrong, customers **** us off, its just everyday life. We all gotta bitch sometimes, and what better place to do it than on here, where we are understood in our rantings?

I see nothing wrong at all with folks wanting to vent. It's therapudic. I've offered up my phone number to a number of folks on here just for the purpose of venting. Listening to somebody constantly glowing about things and never hearing anything negative is NOT what you need to hear when things are down. As Jill pointed out , it only adds to depression. I live in the real world where there is a balance of positive and negative things going on at all times. To ignore either one is eventually gonna throw things out of wack. I focus on everything and ignore nothing. Example. Yesterday was a beautiful day and I spent it working in the yard enjoying every minute of it. During the day, I stepped in some cat $h*t by accident. The cat $h*t stunk! Now I didn't let the cat $h*t ruin the beautiful day but on the other hand, the beautiful day didn't lessen the smell of the cat $h*t. I guess you could say $h*t happens.

Reminds me... yesterday I took the day off & met my sister at my Grama's abandoned house to "treasure hunt " in the attic.
Seems a raccoon has made it's home up there. Yep, my dad & I saw it in my flashlight lamp, after I turned a trunk upside down & it fell out of the trunk! Must have been sleeping, he just slowly waddled away.
But he pooed ALL over the place, some places worse than others, & my sister & I found it stuck on our shoes after stepping in it, & she had some fresh stuff smeared all over the tops of her white tennies!
I wonder which smells worse, George, coon poo or kitty poo?
