Well it looks like that my Dad is going to go the way of all flesh, He is in hospital suffering from an infection on the graft they put in to solve an anuerism(swelled artery) the doctors have told us to prepare for the worst.
Dad has been getting rigors which are an attack that can last over half an hour of real deep breathing and shakes like you ain't seen. It is straining his whole chest and leaving him real sore. His heart is being weakened as well, on top of that he has another swelling developing in his artery.
he said this morning that he has a one percent chance of making it out of hospital.
We are friends after a long time of not being so. I know that I will miss him if he goes, it just feels like there are a great many conversations I would yet like to have with him.
We were not made to die and so we are still uncomfortable with death.

Miles, I feel for you. We have gone through something similar with my dad, although in his case it was cancer. I know it's tough, but God will see you through. Prayers on their way.
May the peace of God and the power of Christ bless your father and you, lifting you into the heavenlies by His grace.
Lost my dad to cancer 10 years ago this month. I do miss him, but I shall see him again.
My wife, my church, and I will continue to pray.

If you feel there are still conversations and/or time you need to be with your Dad, Take the time now and experience the story you want to have with your Dad. Stop work, stop what ever holds you back from the moments you want with him. All the day to day stuff will always be there, don't let it keep you from your heart.
God Bless you both.
Peaceand Health, Renata

What wise words from Renata. Miles, it was good to meet you, and you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers too. I lost my dad in an accident in 1991. I always took for granted that there would be many good times with him in my future. What I wouldn't give for just one minute with him. Love....Jill

Well things have swung in his favour again. The antibiotics seem to have stopped the infection and the rigors he was suffering have stopped for two full days now. the doctors are happy and are even suggesting that they may let him go in a few days.
we still have the awareness that this has taken a toll on various parts of his body, heart and lungs and the condition of the graft is unsure.
the reality is that he has a third anuerism developing that he has been told about and both he and the surgeons have said that there will be no operation on it.
so it is a matter of time.
so the good news of his recovery is tempered by the shadow of this anuerism.
thanks to all of you for your kind words and prayers.

Miles, whether it's a good day or not, prayers are always in season. God's always listening.I will include you in my prayers. It's great to hear your Dad has more time, no matter how brief it may be. I lost my Mother-in-law last August, my Father-in-law the previous September and my Dad died from cancer a little over 3 years ago. I have some idea of what your going through. You will always feel that there's more you could have said or done...that's because you care so deeply. Do what you feel is important and live without regrets. Because my Dad had people who cared and a God who listens and loves, he had time to make his peace with God and I have the reassurance that I will be re-united with him one day. Please keep us updated.
