I read Cam's post about the customer saying "so thats how it is"... and it has got me to thinking just what is wrong with people now a days?
You have some customers that just have to have thier sign by tomorrow or worse (Can I come in and pick it up at lunch?). I have know in some cases where people have called and left a message before opening, and I have called them back by 9 am, and they have already called someone else. These are usually the same ones that call on Saturdays and Sundays.
And as far as paying for their orders, I have a friend that extends credit to people that he has know for years, and considers them friends, but he says he has close to $1000 laying out there...but it's all piddly stuff, $50 here, $75 there...
It has brough the question to out in the open..."What is wrong with people?"
I think that its the Wal-Mart Mentality...They can just drive to Walley World and any time of the day or night, and get whatever it is that they think they need that they can not possibly live without until morning...
Ok, I'm gonna go beat my head against the wall, and then go back to work...

People just want instant gratification and so many areas of our lives have changed to allow that, and people just don't know where to draw a boundary.
Don't take it too personally. If they're just going through the phonebook anyway choosing a sign company certainly wasn't a decision they put much thought into in the first place.

Mark, There is a price to pay for that service. This is what the franchaise shops do to stay in business! Make them pay for it. I don't Mind when a customer calls in an order for rush service. . ..I smile, charge them a good price and put it on their credit card, all this over the phone if they want to. I'll often have very little to do, but you can bet the next phone call is another emergency. Have fun or don't do it. . . .or make a lot of money on it! Enjoy John

Double M greetings, your issue is a frequent cause for "disappointment" in the consumers nowadays-especially with the start-up business or amateurs who thought the "printer" couls walk on water !
i luckily enjoy a good repeat base so when "pants-on-fire" customers call( ie.....those "people" )i say something like geee, can't get to it this afternoon....but i got 3 days you might be intersted in. Christmas, Thanksgiving and YOUR BIRTHDAY ! Usually, after 3 seconds or so, they realize they aren't the center of my universe, and humor sometimes win's the day. Sometimes not, well @ least their friends won't bug me either huh ?
John, i find these type of clients don't care to pay xtra for my overtime etc. good luck to all. M Z "sunny" Md.

McDonald's is to blame....no, seriously - McDonald's......they trained us to place an order and take delivery within 2 minutes. If the order isn't ready...honking the horn is not uncommon.

And some times we go to the grocery store and say "I like to pay you tomorrow!"
And if we all remember "Popeye Cartoons"
Whimpie whould say..."I would gladly pay you Tuesday, for a hamburger Today!"
