I dunno about jobs in sign shops, but if you're any kind of'a construction hand, you'd be wrapped-up in work since all the contactors are lookin' for good help.

Believe it or not, I found one to check on! *********** "Large custom sign shop has openings for vinyl graphics applicators and designers. Shop work and outside work required. Experience with graphics computer programs and vinyl printers a plus. If you worked in a small sign shop, this is your chance to move up to the big time in sign manufacturing. Earn top dollar in the industry with job security and benefits. Lots of overtime. Fax resume to 985-783-2636." ******************

That's good, Boyd, that you have a prospect. But, the "big time" as referred to here, sounds like you'd just be stickin'vinyl. Is that what you really want? Your signature would lead me to believe that you have many more capabilities.
Like Shiela said, and if you should have the where-with-all, going down to the gulf coast might be a plan. Surely, there'd be a ton of work available, in many fields; and most likely, some sign work too.
Do some praying about the right thing to do, and best of luck in whatever choice you make.
