Is anyone here running their Graphix Advantage 6.0 on Windows XP program.
We have heard there were a lot of problems with compatability.
Please list any problems you've incurred (if any) and how you worked around them .
It is time to upgrade some computer equipment and seems that everything comes with the newest window programs (duh)...but we don't need the headaches that might come along with it.
Or can we just load our windows 98 on the new computer and continue operating it as we have in the past?
We're certainly not the geekiest people here (thats a compliment honest)so we'll listen to any good info we can get.

I have to agree with Bob on this, and I am still running GA 6.2 on win 98.
XP will not recognize the dongle key for GA.
In the next few weeks I will be ordering my new computer and the Omega 2.5 upgrade. I have downloaded the demo version and found a few changes that I wish they had not made, but many more that I like. One of my other computers has XP, and I was able to try loading GA, but it would not work.
As with all the technology, there comes a time when we have to pay to keep up, or fall way the hell behind.
Give me a call and I can tell you a lot more about what I have learned.

Monte - same advice from here...upgrade to Omega and you will see a world of difference. Right now I am running Omega 2.1, but 2.5 has been released for about a month.
Mine runs on Win98SE and XP and I've experienced no problems other than the nut using the keyboard.
The latest version of Omega also has layers, which many have been asking for for a long time.

Ok ...I'm hearing good advise here I know ...but you know when you've never ever seen or used all the features of the program you have, it seems like anything new would be more stuff you can't find or use.
I know thats goofey thinkin but hey I'm goofey.
Ok I'll ask....what does the Omega update run (cost) and why would I want it when I have no desire to run the Gerber Edge ? Or any of the router equipment?
Is there truly an advantage for just running the Plotter which by the way is a GS-15?(no longer made but still going like the workhorse it is)
I don't mind ugrades when they make sense but just to dinosaur a program they want you to buy the latest program makes my neck warm. (Ya know what I mean?)

Monte, Just design-wise and tool-wise, the Omega program is hands down better than the 6.2. There is a slight learning curve, but once you go forward you would never want to go back. My wife still has the 6.2 setup on her computer, and every once in awhile she has me try to adjust something on it and I am LOST. Even if you don't use the Edge you will appreciate the better design capabilities of the Omega (and I still have the 4B connected to it.)

Most of our computers are state of the art; except we still have one old computer running Win95 and Graphix Advantage 6.2, driving a Gerber Edge LE and HS 15+ plotter.
I guess I'd have to ask, why upgrade at all? My old Pentium 233 seems to handle vector art just fine.
Would it make sense for you to leave your old setup just as it is and buy yourself a new computer to use for everything else?
