Had to put my faithful Miniature Schnauzer down early last summer. Missed my little buddy ever since.
We'll be getting a Westhighland White Terrier puppy in about 4 weeks, and like the name implies - she'll be "white."
We've been trying to figure out names, but have drawn blanks so far. Don't really want a stereotypical "Snowball" or some of the other over-used cliche names....but wouldn't mind something that ties in with the white coloration either.
Got any suggestions? I know sometimes it's better to wait and see what kind of personality they exhibit - which can be a good source for names as well. Appreciate suggestions.
Edit: Our schnauzer's name was "Cookie" which fit well because she was dark gray with white facial hair - - the kid's thought she looked like an Oreo Cookie, and named her Cookie for short.

Friends of ours have a white dog, thinks it's the same breed. Maybe it's a Westie, I have no idea. Anyway, they brought him home, nameless...when their dad got home & the pup bounded across the yard to him, he turns & says something to him like "who are you? you don't look like a dog, you look like a bozo". Thus, his name is Bozo.

Why not name the dog "Kitty"? Then everyone can wonder who needs more psychiatric help, you or the dog, when you call, “Here, Kitty, Kitty” and the dog comes. My wife wouldn’t let me name our dog.

Ivory Eggshell Oyster Hey if you wanna really make it easy, how about "Whitey" When we used to live on a farm when we were first married, we had a bunch of wild barn cats that used to hand out on our front porch because we started feeding them. Bill named the meanest, mangiest, half-an-ear one "White Kitty". Real creative back then, right?

jane, We are the same way with our barn cats. We had a BW which stood for Black & White. We got one now that my husband named Bob. I couldn't figure out how he came up with that one. when asked he pointed to the cats tail. It looks like someone slammed it in a door and cut part of it off....bobtail...hence Bob.

LOL....I had this post running on my laptop and was on my other 'puter for awhile....Funny stuff!!! And some good suggestions too.
David - laughed my butt off at the "Kitty" name.
Liking Cotton, Sugar, Blanche, Popcorn.
Bozo is a funny one too.
Laura - hehehe...funny stud dog name...1Shot
Edit: Oh, I meant to say I like "Whitey" too. I was thinking about Petey after the bird that had it's head ripped off in "Dumb and Dumber" and then duck taped back on....but that's kind of gross - and it's a female dog anyhoo. Keep adding to this....we have a while before we "take delivery" and I like the ideas that are flowing in already - gotta have the perfect name....
My Mother-in-law has a cute lil white curly terrior mutt and her brother calls it Butter Bean.
To be practical-ish, I've always imagined myself screaming the porspective name off the front porch in an effort to keep the critter from running into harm's way (like traffic for instance) It has been my experience that Fluffy isn't a very commanding name (no hard consonants to catch the ear so-to-speak) It kinda gets lost in the wind LOL.
I've tried Popcorn before and it just made everybody hungry all the time LOL.
I've always been kinda nervous to name a critter Sugar, as that would make me an interesting neighbor but not in a proper fashion...LOL.
Waiting to see what she gets into first at the shop might be your best bet LOL.
Right now I've got a German Shepard named Ori who stays with me every step or sit and I nick-named him my Rug with a Collar. (He likes to lay by the door alot when I'm lapping a lot in the shop.)

Todd, I've had lots of dogs over the years and I've always found that once you have your new pup a certain name will just fit. Meanwhile, this is fun.

My gosh! That is just too cute. What a puppy face.
We were watching the TV the other day and saw a little chihuahua wearing a black t-shirt that said "SECURITY." It was so funny I want one for my chihuahua. We thought it might be fun to name a dog Security. Then you'd always be yelling, "Security!" and here would come a tiny little puppy dog.

This caught my eye because two weeks ago I got a new dog - a 6 year old Huskie/German Shepherd mix -looks like a coal black Shepherd with blue eyes, and white eyebrows and markings. His name is Azu. I inherited him, a friend died and left him to me.
So, I have this grieving dog I am adjusting to and he to me and my shop, and it's a challenge.
But enough about me and mine - the beautiful little white dog looks like his name ought to be "Homicide".
Homie for short.
(I'm punchy, it's been a tricky week)

How about "Buggerya" It's worked for every dog I've owned IE: "Git here Buggerya" "Heel Buggerya" "Siddown Buggerya" "Giddown Buggerya" Although they have all had different names they still understand the command. Just for fun, Buggerya is Australian for white.

When we were naming our dog, my brother had a great name but Kimmy wouldnt go for it...."OPRAH" its a great original name, nobody names there dog Oprah....especially a little white dog.
also, on a side note, be aware of "white shaker dog syndrome" our dog got it and it was quite scary and costly.... very common in small dogs with white coats... how about Shakey?
Is this little white dog going to be in a sign shop? how about a name like canvas, or pallette, or splatter....
