I'm sure that if anyone here has read my posts for the past 6 months they could see that I was in pretty dire straits. Had to get a "real job" up the street to help pay the bills. Have to wait on sign customers who think I've given up the biz. Have to wait on the local "sign makers"....man that's the hardest. Well things are looking up! I have been getting so much more work that I will gradually phase out the "real" job. Today I had two clients to deal with after work. In days past, I would have designed in front of them and printed each out a sketch. In fact, I did exactly that for one of them years ago, and he never got the sign! The reason he came back to me was that he loved the pizza mural that Stevo and I painted last summer. I've learned a lot about "service" not just from this BB but from my day job. I told both clients that I no longer provide instant sketches. In fact, since the first man was only ordering a poster, I won't do a sketch. He said he trusted my taste, and his poster will be done on Saturday. The second man expected a sketch. I reminded him of the last time he'd been here, and told him I could email him a sketch after he gave me a deposit. He laughed and said he'd be back with a check tomorrow. So things are looking up. I feel as if I've been tested by fire and came back hardened yet shiny. (sorry to sound Dan-like) People are finally starting to respect me for my 20 years in the sign biz, and I've needed that all along. But it took leaving my house and getting out into the real world to make the difference. Love....Jill PS Glantz dropped off a new type of ER banner for me to try a few weeks ago. Haven't had time to paint on it. Tonight a woman called, whose son is coming back from Iraq. I gave her a special price for using this "test" banner. We'll both benefit.

Glad to hear it Sweetheart! But why the post title "Vindication" - doesn't that mean being cleared of guilt or justification of a past action.....where does that come from. In any case keep smiling, that's the Jilly Beans the world needs.

(by the way- just do an ahhesion test on the banner first- I've just spent 2 days redoing two banners at my cost. They were new ones provided by the customer (red flag#1), and it turns out the maker used scraps of some great 'nothing will stick to it' tent & marquee material. Dealing with adhesion on this was a real headache for us!)

That's great Jill - I have had many customers tell me they appreciate my service - it's real simple - just do what you say you gonna do - you might be surprised how many business people DON'T follow that simple rule. . . .

Not to sound VINDICTIVE.... But I just heard that Sign-O-Rama went belly-up!!!
Now is this a reflection of the state of the sign industry in my area, or does it just go to show that people are growing tired of licky-stickies? Love.....Jill
