Adding a 4th wheel also opens you up to abiding by all kinds of annoying requirements for automobiles (and the list is quite extensive, even for one-off cars).

3 wheels are a good balance. If a 4 wheel vehicle doesn't meet the weight limit to qualify as a motorcycle, drop that 4th wheel and it will be no problem. [Smile]
