Felix I'm sure GM would do wonders with a Camaro rebirth.
From what I have been told, a deciding factor in many concepts becoming reality is not just sales but cost of manufacturing. I hear that this Challenger is made on an exhisting platform and all the major parts are already in production in other chrysler cars. That right there gives this concept a major boost. Not to mention the CUDA could be done easily from this one as well.

And I know it's just a concept picture but it annoys me to no end when car manufacturers stick a stereo in the dash that's in some bizarre shape like that. It just means that when you decide to upgrade from their overpriced crappy sound system you've got to destroy the look of the interior to do it.
Oh, and the rest of the car looks sweet.

I say its only a short matter of time before chrysler releases a production date for the challenger. Its a HIT. And it damn sure looks more like a muscle car than those GM concept cars that Dale showed us.
BTW did I mention I was a Ford guy, back in my hot rodding days.

I agree with you, Harris, the GM concepts are a bit 'out there', not nearly as real or marketable as the Challenger. But hopefully, they'll come down to earth and do something we can live with. The retro thing is here to stay.
Apparently, the new Mustang has gone over quite well. It has much of the look of those from the '67 - '69 era.
By the way, William, the only thing that would set the new Challenger apart from the 'Cuda would be lights, trim, grille, etc. Otherwise they were identical...like the Camaro and Firebird.
Now, if we could just take the price back to what it was then............

As a '68 Charger owner it really irks me to see the Charger nameplate on the 4 door sedan currently out. It was even more irreverent when they put the Charger nameplate on a little Omni in the 80's.
In my opinion the '68 thru '70 Charger was the prettiest car ever designed and the classic coke bottle shape would have lent itself to an awesome retro treatment... like the new retro Mustang which I absolutely love.

I have to agree Marty, I owned the later series of chargers ( 71-73 ) and even those were quite watered down. When they inroduced the charger this last time I was disgusted. Let's see if they have the stones to stock the showroom shelves with these challengers.

did anyone see the RIDES show that skip foose did a cuda/challenger makover? this new challenger has all all the markings of a FOOSE design. as for GM..they are a day late as always....look at this HRS they come up with to compete with the plymouth/dodge retro 40 ford....HRS is a little late. as for the camero/furbird...they better do it quicker if they want market share. i sent am email to FORD MOTOR CO last year ..told them it would put MERCURY back up in sales if they did a 3/4-full sized retro of the 1949-51 MERC...no sweeter car was ever made...in my opinion. but they sittin on their arses. damilar/chrysler is doin all the right things....the got a jeep RT8 425 HP....also a charger(iam with happy, 4DR CHARGER SUCKS)if you havent guessed i was MOPAR since the 60's.

If you all havn't guessed by now this is only the beginning. The baby boomers are in charge. If we 40 to 60 years olds are going to buy anything, it better kick azz. We grew up wanting (and owning) these cars, and now detriot realizes they can sell them. We ARE the market. There will be three times more people over 60 than 18. Now thats buying power. The cars of the 60' and 70's will rule once again.
Screw all those bee canned exhaust imports!

1.) Don't care for the gauge package....difficult to distinguish one gauge from another (except for the size of the left one) 2.) Don't care for the center dash design - reminds me of a very cheap Japanese Sanyo boombox.
Exterior is soooo---eeeet!
Dale - awesome pics....if GM brings those Camaro designs to fruition...they'll have a major league winner!!

Ahhh, the Vega. My first car was a red '74 Vega wagon with woodgrain panels down the side. What a car for taking to all the parties at what once were empty lots in the olden days.

Always been glad for D/Chrysler's desire for inovation. Also glad they have finally moved a little away from the truck design that changed everything over a decade ago. That was getting pretty old too, though I always thought that design was based on a retro look too what with obviously noticible fenders, etc. It would also be cool to be back in a demographic that is being paid some attention, as I've not been in the 18-25 range for many years (44). Trouble with the big three though is still in place, low car sales compared with so many others, high costs due to unions, locations, materials, and a very slow adaptation rate that, as Paint mentioned hurts their ability to be inovators, especially GM. Sure don't want to see them go though. My wife and I have had only 2 vehicles that weren't American-Made at the time, a '80 Maxima, which I loved and a Eagle Summitt we hated, though not as much as our first - a Chevy Chevette - now there was a mistake that no retro treatment could ever fix (pushed that sucker all over Jackson Tennessee). But I ramble...

Hey Rapid, I'm waiting on the new Gremlin to come out. Maybe I can put a auxillary Pinto fuel tank on it - right behind the factory one.
The Challenger is definately HOT, so is the new Stangs and I'm sure GM will sell lots of Camaro's and Firebirds but I'm waiting on The Judge!!!
