The most important thing to me was spending time with my girl friends family, since I couldn't see mine (my mom and dad are 10 hours away, and my ex-wife and son are almost 25 hours away, and this is her year with him).

We went over to Dottie's (my g/f) parents house after opening gifts, and had a huge spread of food, including ham, shrimp, beans, peas, mashed taters, and tons of other food. I laid back on the couch and watched wrestling dvd's her dad got.

I did get a new shop vac...
drill doctor (I can't wait to try out)...
air impact wrench...
and a new socket set with extensions...
some clothes...
the new Family Guy dvd...
Toby Keith cd...
& Dottie's dad got me a huge box of chocolate (over 3 lbs)...geez, I'm gonna be sick...

But the big present, Dottie and I booked a romantic get away this upcoming weekend up in PA. 2 nights in a room with a hot tub, champagne, and breakfast in bed. And we are going to go skiing at Round Top on Saturday.

Christmas Day was awesome this year.
Emily and I had 11 freinds over and just ate food and cut-up and had fun the whole day.

On Friday, Emily gotta DVD player.
Sunday morning, I tried to set it up but did'nt really have time to figure it out and finish cooking everything.

When guests began arriving, from about 12:30pm to nearly 6pm, all day long, there was at least one, and up to as many as 3 adults trying to get it to work.

Last night after everyone left . . .Emily was tinkering with it and suddenly it played. [Razz]

Emily also got a new Basketball, socks, a coupl'a shirts, a cool belt and purse, and we got two tennis rackets and tennis balls.

I got a book about Scotland and a Mexican flower pot, and some beautiful long-stem glasses . . . [Smile]

Next snow storm, you will appreciate his toughtfullness even more as you think of all the other gals using shovels while you plow out the drive with his quad!

My only suggestion is that tonite, while he's asleep, move that satelite radio to the quad!

Dad gave me some slick new wheels and bearings for the inline skates. I gave him a Canon 4 megapixel digital camera.

Sis gave me a sweet Lift Log for recording and tracking my progress at the gym and a bodybuilding book by Bob Paris (THE man) with a lot of exercises and exercise plans for making workouts effective. I gave her the "OPERATION" game - the Simpsons Edition! [Smile]

I gave my mom a couple *nice* framed photo prints of tranquil landscapes to decorate her massage office, along with a note that there's more on the way. I shot the photos, of course but she had never seen them before so she was quite surprised when she saw my signature on them.

Here's what mom gave me! No joke! [Smile] She also gave me some nice new shirts which I really need, all my others are worn out and getting snug from lifting weights.

We gave ourselves a trip to Mexico (Isla Mujeres) the end of January

And I got an I-River (mp3 player) thats the size of a wine cork and holds over a 1000 tunes...I'm listening to it right now...all the music I want to hear and none of the commmercials. Load all my favorite music off the computer then, just hang it around your neck and plug in the ear phones...non stop music. I love it! No more country and western "wang me dang me" that incescent around here. Gawd i love it!

Edited to say, How could I forget? I got another new snake. A Leucistic white Texas rat snake! I now have 11 snakes in my collection.

Rosemary and Frank,
Yes I have hung out at the Hangout.
Let me tell you a little story about that....
I asked a question on the Hangout board about looking for some bluegrass events near Sevierville, Tennessee, where we went on vacation this past spring. A guy emailed and gave me a couple of places, then told me to be sure and go see a guy named Jimbo Whaley, who is the lead singer for a band named "Greenbrier". I thought nothing more of it and forgot the name.

We stopped at a place in Georgia and jammed with a few folks. Met up with a guy whose grandad has preached at out church a few times and we picked with him awhile there in front of a knicknack shop. It was Ok, but we kinda felt out of place there for some reason. We left and drove on up to Tennessee that night and it was about 11 or 12 o'clock as we were trying to find the condo we would be staying at on English Mountain.

We ended up getting lost, stopped and got directions from a policeman, finally found a way to it but went up the the back way... The road was paved but it was one narrow lane that wound straight up the mountain like a snake. I had my Tahoe in first gear at probably 2500rpms all the way up, it was dark, the city lights in the distance were above our heads, my feet were floating off the floor, I was no longer sitting on the seat but on the backrest and I was about to freak out! We didn't take that route again. [Eek!]

Come Saturday, we drove into town, stopped at a couple music stores and were going to try to find the church we were supposed to attend next day. We got stuck in traffic between Gatlinburgh and Pidgeon Forge for about 3 hours because of a car show. There were thousands of people and cars. The carshow would still be going on the next day so we decided it would be another bad experience to try that again.

There were several little churches in the hills and hollers on the way up to our condo, so I decided we would try this little baptist church at the foot of the mountain..it looked like a nice one. Sunday morning we showed up, the little place was packed. It had wood floors, wood benches, and a churchbell at the front entrance which they rung with a rope. Two guys were playing guitars so we went back that night and brought our gear. They asked us to play and sing for them which we did and then we were invited to another guy's house Monday evening for a pickin' party.

We drove across the hills the next evening, crossed a bridge over a beautiful mountain stream, and arrived at this house sitting on the side of an awesome steep hill. There were hounddogs laying around an ancient old corncrib-looking shed with coontails hung all over it, cattle grazing on a hillside field. Inside the huge living room of this not-so-big house, there were fiddles, guitars, mandolins, banjos, a doghouse bass and there must have been over 30 people there. Everyone treated us like family and I had the time of my life. It turned out to be the best vacation ever. The kind fellow who invited us had a brother at this jam who was a professional musician and this guy could really sing. Before we left, he gave us one of his CD's. After we got back home, I checked that email again...The musician's name was Jimbo Whaley. http://jimbowhaley.com/

My banjo is a Fender FB59 walnut...a good beginner banjo I guess. You must be pretty good to be playing a Stelling!

I got a beautiful $15 Cubic Zirc Sterling Silver Ring that was a perfect fit at size 3 and half. (I picked that one out and picked it up myself.)

Other goodies...
Brand New Pair of Roller Skates (yes, I've been singing the song too! LOL)

A Heat Gun, that I CAN'T WAIT to use on my over stock of tan PVC 1/4" board. Ron & Kristi showed us all at PSS, a few years back, how to heat that stuff up and mold and warp it into cool parchment paper looking pieces that stand up all by themselves.

A new blender. Yeah blended Drinks at Stef's!!!

A brand new refurbished Dyson vaccum cleaner is coming via FedEx this week!!! Since my b-day was last month I had $200 saved up, and then Heath was feeling "generous", just after the belt broke A-fricken-GAIN on my current baggless POS, that he kicked in the additional $80 needed to get it home. (Big Girns Here folks!) The Really Real "New" ones run $400. Darn expensive, but so worth it.... at the refurbished price. Heh heh heh

I also got 9 cans of One-shot in colors I just had to have (smirk) and 6 bottles of Createx AutoAir paint for my Iwata Airbrush (that I bought myself for my birthday).

When we all went to Sears, so Dad could get us all stuff we actually wanted, I picked up a 7 piece set of Flex Head GearWrenches. Yah Baby!!! For ANYone that ever works on ANY kind of engine these things are THE shyte! Wholly cow they are way better than the boxend angled wrenches Heath got me (Which he has since "absorbed" into "his" toolbox. The theif!) for our first Christmas together. Of course his family, of which I was meeting for the very first time, thought he had fricken lost it and then thought I was the "pick of the litter" when I got waaaahaaaay excited over them. Hey! YOU try getting the spark plugs loose when you've got headers on a Chevy 350 crammed into a Chevy Box Van.

The best gift of all though was the fact we DIDN'T have to drive anywhere this year. We had all the different family and friends here.... spread out over the two weekends. Good times.

Thanks Wayne. I don't mess with the coral snakes but if you happen upon a scarlett kingsnake (red, black, yellow) I would love to have him in my collection of native Florida snakes. I have 10 snakes now in my collection so keep your eyes open!

My dad, brother-in-law and I were loading firewood or timbers one time and I found one of those Scarlet Kingsnakes under a log, picked it up and toted it awhile. My broinlaw's eyes got big as saucers..."ain't that a coral snake?" he says.

I got one of those new sign kits from Sal Cabrera! It's too nice to take to meets, so I'll decorate it up and display it in the office.

I seems stupid, but the thing I look forward to most is a new wallet. That's always been an inexpensive gift that my sons could get me when they were little and didn't have much money, and if I don't get one -- well, my Christmas is just ruined. Luckily I got one this year.
