Ho! Ho! Ho!

Rather than Christmas Cards, each year I design a gift tag to put on the Christmas presents I give.
People can use them as ornaments if they want to later as a little seasonal souvenir from me.

Being an animal lover, I usually use a dog or a cat. This year's inspiration came from Dave's sister's whippet. She always comments on them, so I think she'll be surprised this time.

 -

I'm showing it here as an early Christmas Greeting to you folks. I figure you guys would appreciate it more than anyone anyways. [Smile]

Hope everyone is almost done with the shopping hub-bub, and are ready to settle in to relaxing and enjoying the festivities of the season.

Cheers!
Nettie

The last time I called a whippet a whippet, the owner scolded me with "No, it's an Italian Greyhound!" [Roll Eyes]

I don't play the whole hub-bub game. No shopping. The closest I'll get is today when I ran out to pick up a live tree. [Smile] Photos coming soon, as I shoot the shrub every year. [Smile]

Edit: Oops, forgot to say, nice design!

You are still one of my very fav designers Nettie! I love it!

My tree went up before we left for Disney. I added some mickey postcards and a santa type hat with mickey ears replacing the star on top. Anyone else see a theme happenin?!?

Haven't started my baking yet (love to do up cookies), and lights on the outside of the house didn't get finished in time to make it worthwhile. Next year! No cards got done up. It sure made a difference to be gone for a week in Dec.

Presents... just for cody and my mom. Cool huh? Finally got it down to a dull roar and loving it!

I like it, Nettie.
(as usual)
Weren't Whippets used in Art Deco illustrations sometimes?
We still have last years' lights on the roof, I have 6 cards addressed, and I won't put up the tree till this weekend.
(Two of the kids have December birthdays so it seems wrong to put the tree up before those)
Cookies will be baked this weekend too.
Love....Jill

Their is an artist in the 20's (?) that used the whippets. It seems like the name was Icart? ... or something like that. Around the era of Maxfield Parrish I think.

I just printed out my tags on three different backgrounds. Purple, as shown above, dark green and dark blue. I did some e-cards with the same design.

I need to get to some of my PAYING jobs here!
hahahaaa .... personal stuff is so much more fun to do!

I love this time of year.
What kind of cookies are you all baking?
I'll be doing Choc. Chip this week. [Smile]

Real nice design Janette.Mike a whippet is not the same as a greyhound-whippets are smaller in height and weight.

Hahaha.. I need more paying jobs to do, until then the personal stuff gets my attention! [Smile]

I'm baking sesame seed cookies, a shortbread cookie rolled in sesame seeds - very good italian favorite. My mom is making "beanulatta".. it's an Italian thing, that's what my family calls it but if you google it, the only reference is a post I made here about it last year. [Smile] It's dough chopped up into small bite-sized pieces, deep fried, placed into a stack then covered in honey/cinnamon/almonds and powdered sugar, then left to harden.

My sister is doing the choc chips and the "buckeyes" - peanut butter with rice crispies, butter, powdered sugar mixed in, rolled into balls then dipped into dark chocolate... mmmm...

I might also bake some home made soft pretzels. That was an annual favorite when sis and I were kids, mom made tons of 'em but because they can be a little dangerous to make in the traditional way, she stopped. The last time I made 'em (either last year or the year before that, I forget) the dipping pot with the lye in it (to make a tougher outter skin before baking) exploded while on the stove. We'll see how things go this year. [Smile]

I'm not talking about large greyhounds Randy, Italian Greyhounds are smaller. In fact, after a little reading IG's are even smaller than whippets.

whipped shortbread dipped in icing sugar (melt in your mouth type!)

peppernuts (spicy hard round cookies, mennonite thing)

peppermint sugar cookies (done with cookie cutters and all colors of peppermint frosting and candies to decorate)

honey cookies (soft loaded with choc chips and a chewy red or green candy center)

And I bought a big bag of the WRONG flour to make them with... the graphics on the bag were poorly illustrated and I messed up! [Razz]

Dan, anything you like on my list? You can be an etc. if you like.. shipping would be minimal. [Smile]

Merry Christmas Janette!! [Smile]

Jilly! Em's b'day IS Christmas day! I usually like to get the tree up on the first of December, and it sort of seems to add to her celebration and anticipation . . . . . but I have'nt even had time to finish working on my open kitch/living/dining room and I have put up nothing . . .and I have at least 10 people coming for Christmas dinner!! [Embarrassed]

I have'nt even put my wreath on my truck . . .

Nice tags Nettie - I remember I made custom tags for my gifts a few years back & no one even noticed - they only glanced at 'em to see whose present is whose - -bah humbug on my family for not noticing such excellance in design capabilities! Had even used a calligraphy pen for the names. . .
Love the purple & red yours look better than mine did but you might need more room to write the names on -
Christmas Cheers!

hahaha... true here too Carl! Some of the folks don't even know I did them, they just think they are store bought. One year I did actual make Christmas cards, and I don't think they were "properly" appreciated either. Sheesh! [Smile]

Still, I keep doin'em. More for me I think. hahaha

I usually put "to" and "from" on them. But this year, I'm just leaving room for the reciever's name... and they'll just have to guess who the present is from. The tag should, after all, be a dead giveaway by now. heehee.

Dan, I don't know what platz is, ... but I'm guessing something sweet and yummy.
