It's been awhile since I've been here...I miss it but haven't had the time to be here. I was wondering though, if any of you got any emails from Sonic Automation for the router sale out of New Hampshire. I just put my order in and am a little nervous about sending money to a place I never heard of and won't be able to get it for another month. I guess the company actually makes the routers and one of the vending companies that sells these went out of business so they are assembling them and selling practically at cost. Anybody here anything about Sonic Automation from Nashua, NH????!!

I saw their website. I can't say I was overly impressed. The prices seemed OK but I think you could really do better if you shopped around. There are some excellent routers available for decent prices.
I saw the website for the software that they use, too. The software looks like it comes from Asia. It looks like it would do what it says it would do but the tech support issues alone would scare me off.
Nice to see you back around.

Depending on your point of view, that is a good thing or a bad thing...
Seeing how I can't eat that much fast food, and don't like Mickey D's or the BK so much but really dig Sonic food, that is a good thing...
But seing how I really do dig Sonic food, and am allowed some junk food once every 6 months or so, that is a bad thing...

I just did a quick Google search on this company, and I would NOT send them any of your hard earned money. They claim to have won the "2005 Magruder award?. NO SUCH ANIMAL. Never was awarded, never was issued. These routers where offered on Ebay, and it seems like it is a big ripoff. BEWARE. Look at their specifications page. Same specs for ALL their machines. looks bogus to me. Their web page just leaves me with a strange shiver up my spine.
Seems someone else was getting ripped off by this bogus offer. i could be wrong, But Buyer Beware seems prudent. For the kind of money they want you to layout, I would be looking for a used CNC from a reputable dealer.
Just my 2 cents worth. {special Saturday discount 20% off}

Thanks so much for your input...I think I'll pass on this...I even had a dream last night that seemed to confirm this. I guess I've been stressing too much over it. I'll have to look for something else. Is there a descent 4x8 router out there for around $10,000-$12,000? I've got a big job coming up (6) 6'x8' carved HDU, 2-sided. Is it possible to get one & learn it to do these signs? AM I being resonable? Thanks again for your input.

They claim to have an award from Master Woodcraft Magazine for top pick in the 2004 CNC router category. Master Woodcraft Magazine doesn't exist.
The picture of their HQ doesn't have a sign and no address is listed. You cannot even find address numbers on the building. Sonic Routers doesn't show up in my online yellow page searches.
I have the feeling that if you sent them your hard earned dough, your router and your refund would be just as real as everything else about them.

I am guessing you could find a decent used router for that kind of money. It is the software that is going to be a killer. Good software isn't cheap.
It is going to be difficult to use this one job to pay for a router. The time issue alone would not be conducive to doing a proper job.
There is a definite learning curve to using a router. You must be prepared for this.

Just to add more about this company...when they sent me an invoice on the router...I noticed at the bottom was a physical address....6 Manchester St. Nashua, NH...so I did a search on businesses near that address. Sonic did not come up at all...but 2 others came up. A lawyers office and a Real Estate office....NO Sonic Automation.

Oh Judy this smells like he same bone-head that was working for hyatt's and gave Hyatt's a bad name with a lot of new england sign shops. Keith something or other was his name.
I know his last name but am not going ot post it. He knows who he is.
He also was into routers then too.

judy...don't take this the wrong way but i would bet my right tit(and thats the bigger one)that you can not get a decent(not just barebones)4x8 router for 10-12k (& you'd be assembling it), learn the software and puke out 6-6ft x 8ft 2 sided signs for an upcoming job. first off...sub this job out...you'll make more money and have fewer headaches. then if you really want to get a cnc...do some heavy duty homework, be prepared to get on some good prescription calm me downs drugs such as xanax, lorezapam or valium...and know that there's one hell of a learning curve ahead of you. i have a love/hate relationship with mine...it was not cheap to me but in the real world of cnc its nothing special...after having electrical work done to accomodate it i probably spent about $40k...it does have a vacuum hold down and a 5hp high frequency spindle. now i guess i should say i am a one person shop so i have no fall back person. when there's a problem it's me that has to fix it and get behind on everything else. if you have an experienced cnc operator at your disposal then crunch the numbers and it may be a great purchase for you. all i can tell you about is my situation and for one person to learn it and keep up with the everyday workload its very difficult...of course that didn't stop me from buying a versacamm a year ago...but i am a total glutten for punishment! good luck with your endeavor!
oh and the dirtbag trying to scam you for the money is the same scumbag that sold me my router thru hyatts! hyatts no longer supports the router so i am on my own for anything that goes wrong. 2 more years of $671.01/month payments...so my word of advice is to buy from a reputable company that offers support...cause it sucks sooo bad when things go wrong! and things do go wrong.
