Can anyone recommend a good masking tape to use? I use alot of it for holding up the vinyl when Im installing, and lately the one Im using has a hard time sticking, especially when the surface is cold, etc. U-line has some, has anyone used that? Need some that sticks really good. I use 1".

3M tapes are always really nice. I love the blue painters' tape for when you need a tape that can be removed easily (at the job I worked in Chicago we went through it like you wouldn't believe running digital flatbed UV printers). Their normal masking tapes are very nice too, for the higher-tack application you describe.

I use the 3 m Green body shop tape. Holds well and safer on the paint.

I started out using nothing but 3M. My vinyl supplier (Gregory) had a masking tape that sold for $36 for a 36 roll case. At a buck a roll I decided to try it.
I never had a problem with it. I did not use it for paint mask, (3M green or blue only for that) I only used this stuff as a tape hinge for vinyl application. It always came off clean, never pulled up any paint, and did not tear easily like the real el cheapo masking tape does.
The problem is Gregory dropped it from their line of supplies. The brand is Tesa #53123. The price & performance is right if you can find it. If I can't, it's back to 3M.
