Hello, If anyone has any suggestions for getting a mimaki cg-60st up and running after upgrading from windows millenium to XP I would greatly appreciate it. I installed the drivers from the mimaki website and made sure the printer settings matched the printer. But I keep getting an error no.1 when I plot in fine cut from illustrator.

If anyone has this plotter and suggestions I would be so happy and a lot less stressed out.

I've already called mimaki and am waiting for a response...

Thank-you,
Jennifer Osborn

Jennifer,
Welcome, this is a great place to find answers. The only suggestion I have is to try a Mimaki group forum. It's at Yahoo groups.

I am running a cg60st with XP but I use corel 10 instead of illistrator. You said you downloaded the drivers. You didn't get a fine cut CD with the cutter? I can install the fine cut from CD and then all I have to do is go into tools, in corel and drag and drop the cut tool to a tool bar. fairly simple stuff usually, but with illistrator, I haven't a clue.......

I'm afraid I won't be of much help either, I run my 60" Mimaki plotter from Flexi Sign.

I would guess that other Fine Cut users might be of greater help then other Mimaki users on this one... so I would suggest editing your original post so you can include "Fine Cut"

i am concidering getting fine cut for my mimaki CG 60-st plotter and am intersted with how the problem was solved and how you like the fine cut. i think what i have heard it is the compatability with XP and some older versions of illustrator and corel

let me know what you came up with.

OK....when I bought my cutter, it had no software with it at all. For a long time I used it as a "printer" basically. If I remember right, I had to go to "print" in corel, and select either my printer or my cutter. In a nutshell, that sucked. I had the cutter for about two years, and couldn't cut anything longer than 72". I called Mimaki, and talked to one of their techs. He kept talking about finecut. I had no idea what he was talking about. Finally he ask me if I had gotten fine cut with my cutter. "well.........no" I didn't. He told me I should have and sent me a CD of Finecut LE, which I believe is the "lite" version of finecut. All I have to do in XP is run the disk, then register a macro in corel. I then have one button on my toolbar for "cut" which brings up finecut and we are off to the races. The finecut you are refering to Jennifer, is it finecut LE? If it is, it should be fairly simple, but I still don't know about the Illustrator issue. If you want, I can post some screen shots of what I have....hope this helps.
