That the client supplied them with my file adds a little to the sting - they didn't even have to work for it. But now that they have PRINTED it they put their own signature on it so everyone will know where it REALLY came from.

I worked for a shop once that scanned my portfolio and their entire portfolio was made up of only pics of stuff I did before I worked there. That was weird, but what do ya say to your boss? Just bit my tongue and scanned away. lol

I know what you're saying Joe. We had did this project a while back for an east coast client and now I see it on other people's web pages. This has got to stop.

It was one of those cases where it was a logo job before it was a sign job - came with full digital files. We subsequently bid on and built his main ID signs in full 3-D effect for a tidy price. But not before these little beautys showed up on his partner's vehicle. I didn't mind at the time, being our usual busy selves. I wouldn't have minded even today when I stumbled across this, if they'd signified it as 'client-supplied' artwork. It struck me as shady. Or maybe I'm just in a bad mood. More Nyquill.

I do a lot of "Reproduction Work" for truck body shops. I never sign it or put a picture of the job in my porfolio. Can you imagine how embaresed I'd be if the real guy who did it met me and saw my porfolio? I wonder if the client really cares. I guess they fiqure that anyone can design layouts. So how do we let the client know that what they are doing is wrong? Personally, if I saw something I did on someone else web site, I'd call them. I'd might even visit their shop. I would be nice to them and try to persuade that on their web site they can put in "Logo originally designed by Cape Craft Signs". I would guess that they are novices and don't know the rules yet.

Just in case others don't get it, I lifted that nice picture off Joe's website. Therein lies another problem though, all our work is easily copied and pasted to use as we will. Not much can be done if our competitors don't have any ethics.
Who's to stop someone from scanning and using photos from the trade magazines? At some point you do have to deliver on what you say you can do.
Very nice work Joe.

Very nice work Joe.
Here's a script that disables right click on your webpages.

Don, I wondered about using something like that on another (non sign) website, then wondered whether the bad vibes from honest people discovering they couldn't right click might be worse than the odd person who did snavel the pic.
There's always the old PrntScreen button anyway, for anybody who knows how to use it and the clipboard.
thanks for the link, BTW)
