It seems that most of you use exacto blades/knives. I've been taught on olfa's. This is the style I use. It's stainless steel with stainless blades as well.
What is the main advantage of using an exacto? I don't have the issues of storage because my blades slide inside the case. Wondering if I'm missing something...

I'll use the exacto for small detailed cutting and for slashing masked graphics and such I'll use the bigger NL series (big yellar handled) knives.

I never go anywhere without an Olfa in my back pocket! In fact I "lost" one to airport security when I forgot to put it in my check-on luggage!
Like Steve, I also use exacto for fine work. Ours come with a plastic sheath. Pays to wrap it in fluro vinyl so you don't lose it. If you do ... just take the blade out and put it in backwards!
Another tip ... we have a glass jar with a slot cut in the lid for all our "sharps" disposal! In goes old exacto blades, snap off Olfa blades ... even Sue's blood test needles. Sure beats finding them in the rubbish bin with your hand.

Olfa Silver here. I have a full supply of them, and always one in my pocket. I use exactos too, but only when my Olfa is MIA. We use the black & yellow Olfa's for "rookie" knives. You gotte EARN a Silver!
Edited to add: Oddly enough I got thru airport security with my Silver coming home from the Looney meet. Scary, huh?

I use Exacto's for trimming and hand cutting vinyl. I use the Olfa's for slashing and hacking the big stuff.
I can't get an Olfa to twist in my fingers like an Exacto.
(poor comparison, I know...but using an Exacto is like using an airbrush and using an Olfa is like using a spray gun. Same as the difference between a lettering brush and a 5" whitewash brush)
Each has a use.

Hmmm, maybe it's time to stock some olfa's to try'em out. Funny how we can't seem to live without these things isn't it? I get ansy if I don't have one in my pocket at all times.
