I get so tired of looking for fonts. I usually try to ask the customer if they know or could find out what font was used but usually they come back empty handed.

I charge for looking, but I still get tired of it. I did have one corporate customer that had a spot on their webpage specifically for graphic designers and sign person, where you could click on a link, enter a password that you get from their corporate office and it would take you to all the vector and/or raster files that they ever used. It was get. No guessing.

So Sprint has now changed their logo and I don't know what the font is.

It would appear to be a font named TheSans Semi Bold Plain.

You CHARGE customers to ASK for font identification HERE??? [Rolling On The Floor] [Rolling On The Floor]

Why didn't I think of that??? [I Don t Know] [I Don t Know]

And why don't I EVER go to the "Brands of the World" website that has been mentioned here at least 100 times in the last year? [I Don t Know] [I Don t Know]

Laura...BOOKMARK "Brands of the World" website that Russ mentioned!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is located..... HERE

It would save a lot of other people a lot of time, looking up stuff for you, that YOU are going to charge your customer for.

I'm sorry if this seems harsh but if others can utilize the internet to get what YOU need, why can't you??

Start flaming away folks! [Bash] [Bash]

I actually think font ID requests are fun. It gives me a chance to guess, even though I'm usually not the first one to respond.

I wanna see the next person who askes for a font get FLOGGED TOO!!

Sheesh!, who doesn't get paid for looking for a font. ITs not good bizz to hunt fonts for free.. It can take more than a few minutes to find one.

For all you people that need fonts:
1. go to Google.
2. type in --> fonts,Candella Display (or whatver you are looking for)
3.hit "Enter"

If that font exists, Google will find you a place to buy that font!

If you are looking for a free copy from someone....forget it...it's against the rukles!

Be nice.
Hope that some of these folks helped you, Laura.
No wonder people are skeered to ask for stuff around here.
Carl, did you add any rukles to that chili?
I heard they make it extra spicy.
Love.....Jill

OK..Here is some more HELPFUL advice in addition to the link to "Brands of the World" that is posted above.

1. WHAT THE FONT will do a pretty good job of identifying fonts.

2. FONT ALIASES will crossreference a known font name with one that you may already have under a different name.

3. FREE FONTS will search for avaialable free fonts and if none are available it will direct you to where you can buy it.

4. GOLDEN WEB is another source for fonts.

5. FONT TRADER is yet another source for fonts.

I hope this is HELPFUL.

Whether you agree with having fonts available for free download on the internet or not. They ARE there, if you want them. And there ARE sites available to assist in identifying fonts. They are VERY helpful, if you bother to take the time to use them.

Where did I find out about these sites?

I bookmarked them and several others, just like the list of bookmarked Logo sites I have, after reading about them right here in Letterville.

Thanks for the help everyone. I wanted to mention that I would get paid for it so that I wouldn't get jumped on by those that feel this is soemthing that we should charge for. I guess that I can't say anything right for some.

I thought the font was Sans... but the "P" didn't look right. I was so tired of searching that I thought someone here would know immediately without having to spend THEIR time looking.

I had googled for the logo and didn't come up with anything. As far as www.brandsoftheworld.com...I must have playing hookie that day. I usally go that russian website for logos but I couldn't find it there.

ps. Thanks Jill.

I've read Laura's post several times and don't see the word "free" mentioned even once so where is all the hostility coming from? The title clearly says "Need font ID", not "Need font".

You have to IDENTIFY a font before you can BUY it, and there are tens of thousands of possibilites. I, for one, don't have them all memorized yet. Let's be honest; the font identification databases don't always work so well either. How many times have you entered all the specs on a font only to have the lame database spit back some flintstones-looking freak font?
