ugh.
Thanks guys!!!
I do, however most of the suggestions to just go buy a Mac get ignored. $500 gets you a niiice stable system in a box the size of a small CD wallet and you can use your existing keyboard, monitor and mouse with it.

Dana, Try this... 1. Start the PC in Safe Mode. 2. Click on Start and choose Run. Type in Sysedit and click on Ok. 3. Open c:\windows\system.ini window. 4. Click on Search, choose Find, type in VCACHE and click on Next. 5. Add the following line to the [VCACHE] section : MAXFILECACHE=6144. 6. Save the file and Restart the pc.
This has worked in the past for me, but it is mainly for Windows 95-98 operating systems. It was fixed in windows 98SE

Windows 98 and I have NO idea how much Ram. lol
I haven't added any programs, so memory isn't the problem. I picked up a bug somewhere that antivir didn't prevent, but did get rid of. That's the only thing I can think of.
I'd love to start it in safe mode, but it won't. I keep getting the same error message.
I can get it to the C: prompt, and that's about it.

WINDOWS 98 HAS EXPIRED!!!!! hehehehehee dana when you get messages and it wont even boot its time to reinstall windows. now would be a good time to upgrade to XP, this will save your info on the hard drive. if you cant do this then you will have to get a new hard drive,(80 gig are goin for $60 now) put it in the place your old hard drive was conneted to. leave your old hard drive out while you install win98 on the new hard drive. after you do that then connect you old hard drive as a SLAVE and hook it to the 2nd slot on the same cable as your c:\ drive. this way you wonr lose any infor but should be able to access it fron explorer on your new c drive.
