Mike, I know you've just recently switched to Apple and probably didn't know this. But, we can't post any topics or questions whatsoever relating to Macs on this forum without a flood of sarcasm, jokes and critisism.

I'm the same way and it took a couple years before I realized it would never change. It's ok to discuss windows and PCs till the cows come home, but any post about Macs will almost always result in a pile on.
I find other forums or see what I can find on google when I need help. It sucks, but it's the way it is.

Mike I've got two Logitech cordless three button "mice" on my Macs. I sure don't miss the cord and I'm really acclimated to the scroll wheel. As soon as Apple makes that baby cordless though I'll have one. As Dan says, nothing beats the elegance and simplicity of Mac engineering.

Bill - I agree with the "wireless" accolades...I love my wireless Logitech mice...
What do you think of the Mac mini? I've been plenty happy with Windows XP, but have been thinking of picking one up just to see how I like working in the mac realm....I figured if I didn't like it...or if I DID like it...I could always get a more cutting edge unit and give the mini to one of my kids...
Edit: P.S. - I read an article that described how you can open up the *sealed* mini unit and install more ram than the factory limit.....replacing a 256 or 512 chip with a gig chip.
I just plain get into technology...and am not opposed to trying something different...and exciting.
It's certainly an inexpensive way to check out a very cool OS.

I recently bought a iMac for home and I do like it, especially the 20" wide panel high res monitor. The whole unit is built into the monitor and it is a first class piece of engineering. I have a Microsoft cordless mouse that works great with it too, I guess Apple started supporting the scroll and right buttons awhile back.
As far as OS-X it is good but I don't see any big advantage over XP except that you don't have to fiddle with an ever increasing and complex system registry. Or viruses, spyware, whatever ware etc, which is no small matter.
There's a few things I like better about Windows but it may be due to unfamiliarity with OS-X. If it wasn't for my Evoluent Mouse and Signlab I'd probably switch to Macs at work.

OK Si, We admit it, Bill Gates had one great idea on his own and Steve jobs finally gave in and built a three button mouse.
Now, do you want the list of what Bill copied from Steve, . . besides the windoz OS of course, which he's still trying to get right. ;-)

It matters not what you choose for a computer as long as you can accomplish your objective. I use a Mac Dual Processor desktop, A G4 Powerbook, and I also have a Windows machine in the mix so that I can test web pages using Windows browsers. The one thing that I don't do is plug a Windows machine into the Internet. We have always heard the little digs about one machine or the other and most of them are untrue or no longer viable. Life is to short to worry about what someone else is using for a computer. I try to use cross platform applications like Photoshop or Illustrator and other than different keystrokes, they do the same on either platform.

It's a brand of a mouse that's turned on it's side. I was getting carpel tunnel, my arm was killing me until I found this mouse. It's a more natural position for the hand, after a week the pain went away for good. It might work in a basic mode on a Mac except drivers are needed for the five buttons, which I use and does speed up the work flow.
I was hoping the sideways concept would catch on but I haven't seen any others out there yet.

Yes, Apple's systems are user serviceable for items that regularly get upgraded. I hear the case on the mini is tricky to open up however opening it to upgrade the RAM yourself will not void the warranty. Breaking anything in the process of opening it however, will.
If you do it, make sure you get as little RAM as possible pre-installed, then go to Crucial.com (Apple's OEM provider, by the way) and get your RAM upgrade. Apple is cool but I really don't know what they're thinking with the RAM upgrade prices on their site, it's rediculous. I saved over $300 by purchasing and installing my own RAM upgrade.
Bill, I don't mind the cord. Between external FireWire devices, multiple camera cables and other stuff, one mouse cord plugged into the keyboard doesn't bug me.
Dan, do you use the side buttons on your mouse for Expose' or other programs? I like the idea of having those buttons, but that's also right where I always grip the mouse so I wonder if the sensitivity can be changed so it won't constantly open programs.
I'm thinking about getting the mighty mouse. Ironically I already try to right-click with the current Mac mouse, ingrained habit from Windows ya know, it just doesn't work so well since the whole mouse is one giant left mouse button.

Mike....as an ex Windows user....tell me how the switch went for you...any bugaboos in either direction that drive you crazy? Plus's - minus's?
My main roadblock in trying out the Mac platform is software....already invested heavily in Photoshop/Illustrator/etc....
Other than that (which is kinda big) I have no really preconceived attitudes. Can't they just throw in the latest Photoshop and Illustrator and all my plugins and ......
The article I read suggested a thin putty knife to pop the case lid off....
No problems with the switch at all, it's been pretty enjoyable using a computer that doesn't require any babysitting.
Interface wise the two systems are pretty similar but the OSX interface is more intuitive, faster and streamlined to use.
If you agree to destroy your Windows versions of Adobe programs, Adobe will end you the Mac versions. You might have to upgrade if you're using older versions, in order to get a newer version that is compatible with the latest MacOS.

MMMmmmmmm....the plot thickens....that's worth some consideration.
What about this scenario though;
Since Photoshop and Illustrator both let you have 2 legal installs.....would Adobe allow a single install on a windows machine and a single install on a mac machine?
You know, if ya have a mac desktop and a windows laptop for instance....?

Frank, You can't lead a Mac user. We're working while your trying to get all the spyware off of your system.

Hi Mike, I was referring to the mac vs winbox rumblings that can be stirred by a simple thing like a post regarding something as simple as a mouse.
