Normally, I have something to add to these photo posts, but since we have been requested to "play nice", the old rule of "If you can't say anything nice...etc." overides my abilty to post about the sign itself.
Nice spotlights on the roof, tho. Rapid

"See? Even our plainest ol' signs catch your eye . . . you noticed this and put it on a web-site, right?? . . . "
(secondary copy) "We also have a good line of ball mitts, butterfly nets, bug zappers, critter-traps, and more! Anything you need to catch, we got somethin' to catch it with!"
(If this is their 'eye catching' sign, I'd hate to the plain ones . . . )
What? . . . That was'nt 'playin' nice?

What, Si, no gradient fades? Triple outlines? Sheesh...
As far as the "real" sign goes... I have seen worse. At least you read what says.

Remember that game someone posted where a color was spelled out but in a different color and you had to say the color not the word? Is this the signmaker's twist on that?

Ray...by Be Nice I meant here in our playground to each other.
Hack at the sign all you want...I took this picture abour 10 years ago and they've been out of biz a LONG time.
So far I like mine the best for readablity, but Ricky's just adds that little bit of flair. I just don't like the color magenta Si. I'll have to see the rest of the entries before I cast my final vote.

We all agree that it is not pretty. Do we all know why? Or how to improve it? Let's use this as a learning experience.
Here's the idea. Redo the design in the same format. Format is the space the lettering fits into. Don't change the shape or size of the sign.
Use just one color! I suggest black. Black on white or white on black. Your choice. Be prepared to explain what design principles you have employed that make your redesign work.
Now we are learning!

Just a quick attempt; also, spontaneity can be useful sometimes. Haven't analyzed it in any depth but my immediate thought was to make it unusual. I thought the lettering bleeding off the edge might give it an enough edginess to attract attention. Have made 'Eye catching' and 'Signs' reasonably similar in prominence as both are important.

The name itself is humorous, so Id attack it that way. Graphics of the eyeballs to attract attention to the name, and colors that are vibrant and "eye catching" would be used. The red background would make the lettering, etc. stand out more from a distance than the white does.
