Just got back from Jill's Jamboree. My first "Jill" meet and it was GREAT!
BOY!!! I came home to see the post about the twister in Fergus. Sure glad I didn't notice that post when we were online at the meet!!! Wouldn't have know whether to tell Steve and Barb or not!
I have a ton of pictures that I will post. Just have to take a bit of time to resize and reduce file size on them. If there isn't anything real pressing to do tomorrow morning, I should have them online tomorrow.
It was certainly a "Letterville" meet from my observation. The vast majority of those there were familiar names and faces from the Bullboard and it was, as always, a genuine honour to meet people who I only knew from pictures and posts.
Jill and Stevo...Thanks for organizing a wonderful event. It was perfect in every way!!!

A very well organized event. The painting area was great, and the "entertainment".... Did you all know that Gene Golden plays the harmonica?? It was fun and the food was top shelf, (Thank you for the omletes John Smith).
It was great to meet new heads as well as catch up with others I have met before. Even tho I was only able able to stay one day, it was well worth the trip.
I learned how to "smalt", (thank you Kissy) and I learned way too much from Karyn Bush
Thank you Bruce Bowers for the great job on the trunk, and thank you Rapid for my Looney panel. Thanks Si for the PA shot glass. And thanks to Peaches for letting me hang out with them, even tho I don't wear earrings
And a special thank you to Jill & Stevo, and it was so nice to meet you two.

I have to say it was just awesome to meet so many more folks that I haven't had a chance to meet and talk with! Jill everything was just outstanding I had to drop one of the "boys" of as soon as we got back and Alan is spending the night with us tonight. In the morning I pick up my mother and all of us are off to the beach so I'll be posting a ton when we get back. Thanks for the new found energy I need so badly! Awesome meet and I can't wait to see the pictures myself. I shudder to think what I might look like this time!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am still so excited, i don't know what to say! I guess I will post things as i think of them.
Al, you were a friendly, lively little guy, you were!
Jill is a sweet, caring, tender hearted person. She worked so very hard to do this, & I am so grateful to be a part of the Letterheads. Jill makes some killer lasagna, too!!! Way to go, lady! And yea, John is one good cook, thanks for the breakfast, John!
The funny thing was that I knew what everybody else looked like, but they didn't know what I looked like! It was funny.
I broguht my panel pattern to do, & found it overwhelming, & everybody heard me whimpering & whining about it, & it finally got done ok. THEN.... I was on to my mission to learn some striping tips. Thanks to Bill Diaz, & learned a LOT!!!! I actually did ok, & my husband was amazed at how well I did. I could not have had a better teacher, Bill, you are a heck of a guy, for being so patient, & taking the time to help me. And Jane you were very good company to talk to! You are a very special lady!
And if any of you have never met Mark from Kitanning PA, he is one hyper individual! That guy has so much energy, he never stops! He was hilarious!
And Mark (Oh, my Mark, how do i spell your last name?)our "fancy mailbox flamer" (there, you know who I mean!)is a very sweet guy, & his work is just awesome! His son is only 14 & he tenaciously stuck to his work & painted hid little butt off. What a good kid.
Rapid Ray, there are just no words to describe you! You have made a lasting impression on me, & I sure hope to meet you again! You were so very encouraging!
Si helped me with some brush tricks, & he is SUCH a colorful guy! There, Si, has anyone ever called you colorful before?
Don Coplen, you are a big tall sweetie, you are! It was a pleasure to meet you.
Kissy, you are just cute as a button, you know that? You have a very sweet voice, you do. I might try to find your shop when I am out that way.
Thank you Sal for the scrolls on my panel I took home, & for adding on to that panel this morning. You are slick, That is how i would describe you!
This was the most fun time I have ever had, I do believe, & I can hardly wait to come to another one! I better get off here & let somebody else talk for a bit.
Gotta go rest....

We're back too. Believe me, it was good for me too. I had always wondered what it would be like to have a meet up at John Pat's....now I know! I really loved having you all step into my life for a weekend. I did paint a few small pieces, but like I've said before, for some reason, I haven't been real creative lately. Mark (Ernest) really made me laff my arse off. Y'know when you laugh till your cheeks hurt? It was like that. And Alan, Al (just wait till I get my hands on the group shot) Checca, Kimberly, Clay, Sam, Karyn, Bill & Jane, Donald & John, Bobbie & hibby, Steve & Vanessa, Dan & Lorie, Catharine Kennedy, Mark Matyjawhoozits, Rapid, Barb-N-Steve-N-Lydia, Brooooce & Dana, on and on and on. (Kinda tired right now and don't mean to exclude anybody) The Peaches, Kissy, Checkers & Susan, the Bobs, and of course Harris & Joe Chips, Si & Marti, Dave & Shirl, and Little Don. The newbies...Jerry Steward & Stephanie, Brian from Apex, Gene Golden (I have been to his shop) Camille....I hope you were all inspired and stoked. BTW I found the Creed this morning. I think it was a success...we broke even...we et good too. And I can remember 98% of it! We had tons of door prizes...thanks to all the donors. To those who signed up and didn't make it...wish you coulda been here...Steve, the Timmermans, Unkl Ian. Thanks to Faye, to John Pat and Sue and their daughter Kathy, to Steph and Susan, John Smith and Stevo and especially to my right hand/brain/bosom pal Catherine. The kids were pretty good too if I do say so myself, a special thank you to Jess Checca, my little registration sweetie. Love Yins....Jill Posts: 8834 | From: Butler, PA, USA | Registered: Jan 2001

Jill knows how to organise a meet so that it "runs itself"!!
But we all know that it takes a HUGE amount of pre-planning and organization to make it appear so smooth and easy. I also have to say a thank you to Catherine from Scotland...She spent a LOT of hours working in the kitchen, along with several other ladies that I am ashamed to say I never thanked personally.
By the way...I agree, thanks to Jill for talking her uncle John into allowing the meet at his wonderful location...BUT...Thanks to YOU, also, for providing the wonderful breakfasts that you cooked so well!! (Even after those bottles of "water" and cans of "Caffiene-free Pepsi" that you were consuming! )
I hope you can somehow get online or make available some of the video that you took?? I know I'd be more than happy to reimburse you for a copy.

First one was a long time coming, and soooo worth it! I overheard a few amazing tales of the life and times of Si, got pinstriping advice from Sal - on a borrowed brush from Mark(Ernest), carving tips from Gene, smaltz low-down from Kissy, "advanced" Gorilla Glue tech from Karen, fed breakfast from John's "workbench", also ate like family through Jill & company's MUCH appreciated hard, hard work. Steve Shortreed - thank you. Ditto what karen said. Actually, thank every single person there. Because of your generosity, enthusiasm and encouragement this was an event that exceeded all expectations. Stephanie & Trixie had a great time too! ps-hi Bobbie!!

Made it back home late, but I'm still jacked even after the long drive home.
How do you describe the perfect meet? This was chock full of what Letterheads is all about. Everyone giving of each other, friendships formed and revisited, creative projects and a magical combination of people who did some truly amazing things together. This meet didn't push the envelope...it tore it up!
John Meeks and Jason Davie...what can I say? Mission accomplished. BRAVO!
Mark, Jill, Al Checca...I'll never look at a beer the same again. TOO COOL!
Bruce, Danz and Bill Diaz... Every time I drive my truck I'll carry your skills and frienship with me. I'm simply blown away.
Clay, Kimberly and Samantha slinging paint! How cool is that?
Man, EVERYONE hit the wall mural in one way or another...that one's gonna be a beauty for years to come.
The "Highly Dangerous" gang...too fun!
Camille, Bobbie, Bill & Jane, Dick Mueller, Mark Neurohr, Bill Dirkes, Al Checca, Dave and Shirley, Jerry, Chris...and all the new folks and their families....it was such a pleasure meeting all of you.
Catherine Kennedy, having you with me for the drive to and from was a true pleasure. You are the coolest!

Jill & Steve Guys I can't say THANK YOU loud enuf! Y'all are a hoot. This was the best of everything. Thank ya sooo much! Letterheads are the most beautiful people in the world. Karen said best "extended family" "Brothers of the brush" is too limiting. It's a lot more. I needed the infusion of passion, the camraderie(Al SpellChecca that for me!)and the "rubbing elbows" with so much TALENT in such wonderful packages! My family just got a lot bigger BTW Darren will be along the next time. He would run alongside the truck if he had too. What he really wanted to know was why I didn't bring him along to the other meets I've attended. Simple, I wanted to take hin to the best one! Thanks so much Cornhole Forever!

I don't even know where to start! We got back to Cincinnati about 6:30 last night.
We had a sensational time. Samantha said to me last night - I'm gonna be a Letterhead when I grow up! I told her, kiddo, you already ARE a Letterhead, you gonna be a Sign Painter? She tells me, I'm still a Wall Puppy!
I have a couple of hundred great pictures - I will post a bunch as soon as I have a chance. I may wait until Wednesday when I get home and I have my big computer to work with. My laptop was flipping out about something last night.
Thanks again to everyone for a great time but especially Jill & Stevo for their hard work.

Jill and Stevo, thank you for orgainizing such a great meet, and Stevo I am honored to have been there for your birthday. Even though your Canadian family wasn't around to help celebrate, your letterhead family was, and you are a class act.
Jill, you are one hell of a woman, and the perfect hostess. You could also double as a massage therapist if need be. You make everyone feel at home. Your inner beauty shines through, and Stevo the both of you are a cute couple. I'm rootin' for ya.
I've been going to meets since '89 and have hosted a couple myself. I rank this in the top five and it may just be "numero uno". No offense to other meet organizers, but this one got off to a great start and the stars were aligned from there on out. The location in the woods with all the privacy was key. The food was awesome. Jill and family and John Smith kept our bellies full and smiles on our face. The fire pit with weinie roastin' and somemores was awesome. Al Checca with his hometown brew and Steve Shortreed providing the background music put a grin on this old boy's face.
I think having known people through the board "somewhat" really helped, because you didn't have to start from ground zero gettin' to know folks. Of course nobody really looks like their picture, but maybe we can fix that. We can't get on line at home, so we miss out on the evening chat, and I don't get on here as much as my better half, but nobody made me feel like I didn't belong, and I want to thank them for that.
I can't really mention everyone else and feel like I've slighted anybody, so I'll quit with the names. I think the size of the meet was just right, and I tried to get around and visit with everyone at least a couple of times. If I didn't get to you, I will make it a point the next time around.
I enjoyed the fact that folks brought their kids and that there were dogs running around. This made for the family atmosphere that made the meet so special. I wish my back could have handled campin' in a tent, so I wouldn't have had to leave the grounds. Too many wonderful people, too many belly laughs were had at the meet, and since I'm a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve, it was tough to say goodbye. At least I had my bride at my side for the long ride home to soften the blow.
Thank you all for the shot in the arm -- as I get older I enjoy them more. I don't know how much longer I can do the work that I do. Physical ailments and such are already at work, but going to meets like this makes me realize the necessity of passing knowledge on and encouraging our youth to care the torch. God bless you all!

Jill & Stevo, Everyone here has pretty well summed it up and I agree with Bill...this meet ranked right up there at the top! And one other thing...sometimes, completely overlooked are the "backstage people". Those are the all people that made it all look like everything just happened, magically appearing when it needed to. The cooking beforehand, the trash getting emptied, the firewood in a pile, the easles all set up, all the planning ahead of time, etc. All that DIDN'T just materialize out of nowhere. Bill & I both know how much time and effort all that took and YOU handled it flawlessly! I think you deserve a standing ovation for that alone.
I think the thing I enjoyed the most though, was putting REAL faces to the little squares off to the left here. Most were easy to recognize, but still I had no idea what you sounded like, how tall some of you were, and what characters some of you were!! I also agree that it does feel like a big family, but better than that. A family of friends that you can't wait to see again! It was a pleasure to meet and get to know all of you!

Jill you are fantastic! Kid, can you throw a party, or WHAT?!
I slept in this morning, and already had 2 naps- and it's just after lunch! The meet was more than I'd anticipated- unexpected joys all around- like engraving lessons from Gene, fire engine gilding from Danz, computer stuff from Dave, Don and Harris- but actually getting to meet with friends I'd had met yet- TOO COOL! And I can't say enough good stuff about Rapid Ray's excellant driving- and how cool the reactions to the truck as we were driving!
Where's the next one?!
