I searched the bull board first- question not answered. S0..... I have been asked to supply either vinyl letters or a stencil for painting on the lettering on a gym floor. The floor is being refinished. I will not be applying the lettering or the mask, nore do any of the painting. MY question- Will premium cast vinyl (3m 7125) work? Will there be any combitability problems with the polyurethane they are going to top coat with? Anything else I should ask about?

I'm speaking for myself, Diane. As a professional artist, I would not supply the stencil or the vinyl. To the client, "Are you contracting me to design and/or paint your logo on a prepared floor?" If not, then I'm sorry, I can't help. I am not in business to sell stencil or vinyl to a customer for them to apply. There are too many variables that can go wrong, and of course I'll be the first one they come back to. Good luck.

tell them doing as they ask is NOT problem.... before giving them "your solution" tell them the up & downside of each of theirs... mask or vinyl...
supply them what they choose and give a bit more advice...
if they come back... take it from there... just remember your selling a DIY solution. because "they" did not make it work, doesnt mean they can complain.

What if you made them some paper patterns? I've been doing a few floors lately at it seems to be very profitable. I charge out the patterns @ $2.50 per ft ( 24" wide) drawn with plotter and $2.50 per ft electro pounced plus any design fees.. I've found that by drawing them first with a sharpie (on the plotter)it is much easier to see the image than if it were just pounced by plotter ('sides that my plotter doesn't pounce).. I don't use a chalk bag but use a cheap can of Krylon instead.. They can just mask around the pounced image and paint..
