i am considering this instead of a Versacam...

because...
Roland has informed us that we are "not allowed" to purchase the Versacam from our own supplier but instead were told that we "had to"
purchase from the dealer that Roland dictates us to buy from.
This is where the problem begins and apparently ends...

Our supplier is a 45 minute drive from our shop and personaly delivers our supplies to our door every monday as they have for several years. They are convienient to our shop and have provided us with excellent service over the years.

The dealer that Roland INSISTS that we purchace from is aprox a 3 hour drive from our shop. I have spoken with them concerning this purchase and they seem like nice folks however so does the car salesman when you are shopping for a new car, if you catch my drift.

First of all, I've got to tell you, I do not feel comfortable being told that I MUST do anything, especialy begging a company to LET ME
spend aprox $24K with them.
Secondly, it makes no sence to me, whatsoever, that I purchase from a dealer that are complete strangers to me and are over 2 hours further
away from us than the dealer that we like and have a track record with and confidence in and could obviously serve us better.

So...what about the Mutoh???
thanx for any help and/or advice...

Gosh Gary I was hoping to get a VersaCam this winter I hope I don't run into that problem. I wonder how a company like Sign Warehouse can sell and ship them anywhere? Not that I'm planning on buying from them but they do sell them nationwide.

The company policy is likely in place to protect prefered dealers or markets. However, deep down inside I would guess they don't care where you get it from.

In the end, will they lock you out of waranty and service if you get it where you want? I don't think so. Its illegal here.

I'm running a Mutoh Falcon Outdoor 46 right now. A customer had it in storage and ask if I wanted to use it. He bought it from Signwarehouse.

I've had it for 5 months and couldn't figure out how to stop the inks from puddling up and getting murky. I have found its hard to get a hold of tech service. I spent so much time on the phone with their tech service and got no where that I got frustrated and left it alone for awhile only to come in on a Sun and try to figure it out.

Finally I talked with a local supplier who started carrying them and he told me what temp to set it at...which was contrary to the signwarehouse tech. That did the trick. I'm running it thru Flexi (which my customer also let me use) now and I don't think that it prints near as good as the VersaCamm. Plus it doesn't cut.

When I get the chance, I will be buying a VersaCamm...unless A new HOT machine comes out that is better than the VersaCamm.

Tis a pity cause the Versacamm is such a nice toy... Ridiculous that you have to buy from a specific dealer, I'd fudge the delivery address and buy from whom I wanted.
