Michael, are you dusting the talc onto the tacky lettering, or mixing it into the paint?

Depends on color, if white or black, use one-shot's shading black/white. It dulls when dry...

You could also apply a liquid matte clear coat after completion (Clearstar coatings)
If you use the Flattening paste, make a test sample. you can get anything from reduced gloss, satin finish, to dead flat based on the quantity used. BTW, Flattening paste is not really "paste" even tho it is called that. It is just fairly thick liquid.

which should be well stirred before use... also... use sparingly... measure accurately and record ratios... don't wax unless cleared w/satin finish clear...
