Today marked the completion of our new garage. This first picture was taken Aug 1 and shows the frame. We had a lot of help for that day. Most of the time it was just Pat and myself. The extras in this picture are Pat's 2 brothers, 2 brothers in law and an uncle. They were all home for a family reunion. We really appreciated their help.
 -
The second picture was taken today Aug 8 and shows the completed building. The two sticks are in front of the doorholding the weather striping until the calking sets. Although Pat tried to tell me the building was put up so fast that these sticks are holding it up.
 -
Now we have a place to do wood working and also when a vehicle needs to be striped or painted they can bring it here instead of us packing up and going to them. The building is 28 ft long x 24 feet wide with 8 foot walls. Not huge, but a lot better than the 70 year old garage with a dirt floor leaky roof and holey walls. No more sign meets in a tent that might leave in a big wind. Now what will we do for entertainment.

Looks good - but somehow the old building being gone makes me sad.....
Remember the wild kittens that were in there and were tamed by the storm. After that night even humans looked comforting. [Smile]
I look forward to seeing it.

Very nice Pat!!!

I know yer going to love working in the new shop. I hope you don't install any work benches. They just attract junk. Use rolling work tables instead, you have to clean them off once in a while because they get too heavy to move if you don't [Rolling On The Floor] [Rolling On The Floor]

I love it when a job gets started and completed in a reasonable time frame!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Job well done. [Applause] [Applause]

Wow, what an improvement, it looks great Pat.
I was thinking that just maybe if you like to believe those things, the time we painted the two church statues in the old garage, a blessing was sent to you to do bigger and better things.

Your picture with the LOOOOONG shadows reminds me of when I was driving the last miles to your meet last summer. I was driving due south and the sun was just setting. As I drove over the flat land I could see the shadow of my truck stretching waaaaaaay out into the fields hundreds of yards. And I could see the light under the truck between the wheels - something we don't often see here.

It's just so flat down your way... here the sun sets much higher in the sky and throws shorter shadows on account of all the mountains and hills.

Whenever I see long shadows its one more thing that will remind me of your meet and the memories created there.

Thanks all for the nice comments...Just in from installing an air manifold around the interior...and going to set up easels around the perimeter as well...Old Paint your right about doing it all yourself, when you stand back and see what you've done its a good feeling alright...Dan as we get closer to fall the shadows get even longer, It's always amazed me how they look like they are racing with you and sometimes when traveling in the right direction it looks like your gaining. But its comments like yours and Jill's that reawaken our sences as in time we take these things for granted...Murray bring it on...Ruth want to know if the drops are to be peanut shaped???...Maris Those bins have been used for those types of thing in the past hehe...(Farmer ingenuity) Right now it is an aeration bin used to dry grain but we sneak the girls in the bin whom have dresses on, then turn on the fan,... well you know the rest....Sandblasting is pretty noisy in there though...Bill I'll have to call you now that your back with an interesting story about those statues, that will really make you think. thanks again everyone...
