Ok, my mail box is toast, so I went out and bought a new one. I was inspired by Marks mailboxes on the portfolio page, but then got a little scared about theft.
The minimum I'll do is my shop logo. Anyway, I was going to buy a steel one that's powder coated, but then I saw these nice wide ones that are plastic. I thought, "ah" the solution to my folded & curled Signcrafts in the mail box. My last mailbox had vinyl name & address on it which didn't stick very well even after corona treating it.
So my question is, will One Shot stick to Krylon Fusion? Since the fusion will definatly stick to the plastic, I'd like to paint / airbrush with One Shot, using the Fusion as a primer.

Dave, It MIGHT work, but the thing is, many of the plastic used for those boxes are siliconized . . . even scuffing has little affect on those things.
I have painted a few plastic mailboxes and I used the S-222 midcoat adehesion promoter. It seems to hold the paint on very well. Clean the box real well . . . I still scuff a little and wipe it down with thinner . . . Just a thin coat or two of the ad-promo will do. It dries fast, and is undectable so you could do two thin coats over the entire box and be ready to letter it within 30 minutes or less.

I've done a number of different projects using Fusion as a bridge between plastic surfaces and 1Shot lettering enamels. Works like a charm. I clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol before spraying the Fusion. After a couple of days, I usually hit the project with UV CLEAR to get a nice gloosy finish....makes it look sharp.
Some wilder experiments I did on white aluminum panels last month included spraying HOK Kandy Kolors over Fusion. I gave the Fusion 24 hours dry time and it worked out excellent.
Hope this helps... Rapid

Thanks Rapid. I knew the Fusion would stick to the mail box. They even show one on the label. Wasn't sure about One Shot sticking to it. I also wasn't sure of what to clean the mail box with before painting. Going to get on it right now.
Thanks

Dave, you shouldn't have any problem getting the 1Shot to stick to the Fusion. I suggest using High Temp, 6002 as a solvent to reduce with. Hardner is optional.

Hey Frank... great to see you on board again. Sure missed at Mazeppa. I know you would have gone if you could. Thanks, I'll go with the 6002 when I break out the airbrush.
Roger, I always clean with Rapid Prep. Never had a problem when the paint & substrate were compatible.
