The Imagination Corporation shop looked like a disaster zone today with a plane and wreckage strewn throughout the shop. Luckily the big steel doors were open when the plane crash landed in the center of the shop. Phoenix lies unconcious amid the debris. He was quickly revived when I threatened to do mouth to mouth resusitation and CPR on him.
I'm happy to report the new Volatile Free foam system works well, although it creates quite a mess in the shop with both overspray and subsequent dust as we gind things down to look like a plane.
It's our hope that life in the shop will return to normal by weeks end.

This project is a brutal test for the Volatile Free system. In my view it was a little large for the small system and probably should have been done by a commercial sprayer. It was also our first project for the system - right out of the box. So much for doing a small test piece first.
We experimented with two types of foam... 3lb and 30 lb. THe idea was to bulk it out with the three pound foam and then put on a layer of dense foam to make out plane tougher. It sounded like a good theory... but next time I would just use the 3 lb foam.
We will be using the hardcoat system and it should be interesting as we have to do half and then flip the plane for the remainder. Spraying foam upside down didn't work too well and I'm not going to attempt the hard coat that way. We will also be applying the system primer before we use our acrylic paints for the final finishes.
Over all I'm very happy with the system and wuld recommend it.

Take down that weather vane and replace it with a windsock to prevent future crashes.
Those wheels look like they are of your John Deere mower, how are you going to cut the grass now???lol
Are you spraying the foam onto a wire frame? and if so what size mesh?
