Help? it's Monday On page 58 of the Commercial sign pricing 2005 from Signcraft (Under vehicles) where it says Box Truck or trailer up to 12 ft (3/4 down the list) is that for ONLY one side?
then the additional is the second side of the truck. Or is it for the entire truck that price . $442 seems low, for two sides of a 12' truck.

Laura, I'm sure they price trucks at both sides, not per side. Additional is for the next truck. The pricing is a result of surveys they sent out to several different shops all over the country.

I think I asked about the same question a while back. Looking at my antiquated "2000" official signwriters publishing co price guide a jumbo furniture van 1 color 2 sides name, city, phone runs $933.50
If we used that scenerio I would say the 442 price is for 1 side. Of course I'm not sure about prices anymore as the most expensive shop around beat my price by about 10 on an A-board the other day. (Whats up with that?) And some other well known shops are dropping prices too? Of course it doesn't help that 2 more shops have opened up within 2 miles of mine and there are at least 3 other established shops in this area as well.
Best of luck,

Those prices are for both sides of the truck. Nobody letters one side.
It seems low because you are looking at the pricing at a $40 per hour shop rate. The green column is for $55 an hour and the blue (where I price from) is $70 an hour which puts the price for both sides at $669.00. I've been using the guide a lot lately when it fits the job, and timing the jobs and tracking the materials. Those prices work pretty darn good in most cases.
The one thing I disagree with is the pricing under additional. The rational is that the layout fee is included in the price for the first, with a slightly reduced price for more vehicles / signs. I only use the "additional" column if I'm in a bidding situation.
I don't know how anyone can make it at $40 per hour shop rate. By the time you answer the phone, talk to customers, pay bills, clean up, pick up materials, take deliveries, blah blah blah, you're lucky if you've got 20 billable hours in a week. How are you going to pay for all the expenses of running a business and still get a paycheck at $20 an hour?
I've been using the $70 an hour column a little while after that guide came. That's up from $60 an hour shop rate that I was using. I haven't lost any work because of the pricing. It showed me again how much money many of us leave on the table because we're afraid the customer won't pay it.
