This is still Jeff posting under Dara’s name...There has been some recent comments regarding Oracal’s new 751 cast and whether or not they were still making 851.

Well 851 is still (and going to remain) on the market...it was explained to me this way...the new 751 cast is made with the same components (made in the USA) that the likes of Avery and 3m use in their cast vinyl’s and therefore priced to be competitive with A8 and 3m cast vinyl.

851 is made with components from Europe that are “superior” in terms of pigment and such, which is why they boost a 10 year life and why it is more costly to produce than 751 which explains the cost difference of 851 over 751.

For what it’s worth this information is directly from the President and CEO of Oracal USA to whom I spoke with today.

Just passing on some info...I was lead to believe 851 had been dropped and I wanted to know what the scoop was.

I Hope this is helpful...Thanks, Jeff [Smile]

A little bird whispered in my ear a few weeks ago and told me that Ameriban's Permacast vinyl was re-labeled 851......I tried a roll the other day, very easy weeding.....even if 851 is still on the market who sells it????

I have noticed that Ameriban has been trying to pull some fast ones. When we experienced the “Incredible shrinking vinyl rage” from Avery, we purchased it through Ameriban. Avery made a pathetic endeavor trying to settle our loses by giving us a credit through Ameriban. When we tried to recoup our loses through Ameriban, we were told that they don’t carry Oracal 851 or any 751c, that the only high performance vinyl they carry is Avery A8.

Now we hear that some people have purchased Oracal 851 through Ameriban. I’m thinking that that the only way for Ameriban to recoup any of their loses is to try to resell me more Avery garbage. Did Ameriban lie to us under the circumstances?

I'd sure like to chat with the CEO Jeff. Oracal was a Merchant here a couple years back. In my opinion, Ken Sandlin, thier former Letterville rep, was making lots of new friends on this BB.
They were so successful that even OP was using it. [Smile]

Then there was a change in their Head Of Marketing and we lost them. I'd love to have a new contact there. Drop us an email Jeff!
