i am sandblasting 4x10" brick to be buried for distance markers at a driving range was unhappy w/the blasting of my last batch so thought 'd do it myself can i get info on type of blasting unit to purchase...type of sand to get..psi to blast at and any other helpful info thanks

John, Brick doesn't blast well no matter who does it. If you find a supplier of limestone, sandstone or granite, you can have them cut rectangles for you out of countertop material. The result is much better.

Tom, I am glad you said that. We once had a guy asking about sandblasting names into bricks for a walkway, you know, donations for a project, & you get your name on it.
So my question is... how the heck do they get the names in the bricks??? Anybody know? Maybe molded?

John R. I bet you would get far better results, a better product, and higher profit margin doing this...
Make you a few wooden (or HDU) box molds out of old signs the size of brick you need. Cut some HDU on your bandsaw about 1/4" thick. Cut out your numbers in reverse with that ole trusty Roto-Zip. Mix some Redi-Mix mortar, color it to the desired color. Hotglue the numbers into place inside the mold. Let it set a few hours and pop it out. While the mortar is still kinda fresh, take your gloved hands and lightly smooth down the edges, give it some texture. Two days later, dig out the HDU letters !!!! WA LA !!! CUSTOM made yardage markers made to ORDER!! This will save you the investment of equipment, aggravation of sandblasting a very hard substrate and will probably be fun to do !! (you know how us boys like to play in the mud)
This also could work for anyone wanting to do custom stone blocks with family names, pet cemetery, etc. (fun for the kids)

Buried distance markers at a driving range? Don't you get pounded by everybody else's golf balls if you walk out onto the driving range....especially far enough to see a yardage marker buried in the ground?
