I recently did a 4x8 sign in high performance Avery vinyl stuck onto sintra. I noticed before I delivered it that some of the blue was curling around the edges. Strange! So I replaced it, giving the sintra an extra good cleaning. (rapid prep then rapid tac)
After delivery, the blue was curling up again! Thinking it was my cleaning methods, I recut some text, recleaned and reapplied at the new mounted location. Done! Right?
2 days later, AGAIN! So I picked at the other colors. They come off easily but not quite as easily as the blue.
This same Avery blue I've been using has been used on vehicles with no failure. I don't get it.
I'm wondering if the sintra had a special coating of something. I've NEVER had a sintra failure before! This is embarassing because I don't know what the problem is. And if it is a coating, why didn't rapid prep and tac do their job like they normally do?
Upon very close inspection, I also used Avery red, and although it was sticking just fine, it appeared to have a slightly fuzzy look around the letters, as if it was shrinking abit. I REALLY have to wonder what's on that sintra if the decal isn't grabbing...

I've had the exact same problem with Avery blue and pvc. I also suspect there was something occurring between the blue and the pvc. The black stuck fine. I think it was a bad batch of blue, but it could be something quirky with that combination of pvc and blue. I replace the blue with a slightly different shade of blue and it seems to be OK.

Over the years I have also had failure with the lighter blue's. This seems to be a problem not only with Avery. It got so bad with Calon we ended up using it in place of Gerber mask.
I don't know what shade of blue you were using but wonder if it is one of the lighter hue's.

I bought two rolls of Avery's blue Pantone color vinyls for some trucks I'm lettering. One is a light blue color and the other a medium blue. I lettered two trucks last year. When I lettered another one recently, I noticed white showing around the edge of all the lettering. It appears that the Pantone color was applied to a white vinyl. Sure hope I don't have failure of this vinyl. It's not peeling up or anything. Anybody else had an expierence using Avery's Pantone colors? Judy

Judy; The Pantone colors have a white adhesive...I have green and orange showing white around them also...don't know if it's more failing product or not...hope not!

I just had a failure with Avery yellow reflective on a van after 2 years he brought it back and it looks 10 years old. I usually only buy Gerber/3M or Arlon. Now I remember why.
