Not a lot of advertising on this meet yet which is in Sept. It should be more fun than humanly possible. Walldog meets in these tiny towns are always enormously fun -- sort of like the ones in Allerton, IA and Atlanta, IL.
I'm lookin' forward to the football game on Friday. Aledo, IL is a football crazy town like the one I live in, so I'm sure the stands will be brimming over with crazed fans anticipating another run at the IL 2A championship.
Michael Clark has mentioned this is more than a walldog meet, since there will be panel jamming, etc. The quad cities are close by with a lot of Mississippi River stuff to do for those wanting to make an extended vacation out of it.

It's going to be a blast. I have sent some registrations forms out and will be sending one to Barb to post on this board. There will be registration forms that will be coming out in the AMAL, hopefully soon. Hey Bill, the football fever is already starting.
If you like to see a small high school throw the ball, then you will be in for a treat. Our coach loves to air the ball. It's alot more exciting than Pontiac football. Just kidding...
We are located 25 miles southwest of the Quad Cities and they have all sorts of entertainment. I think at least three gambling boats.
If you are traveling in from the northeast on Route 88, you have to take time and stop to see the wall murals in Sterling, Illinois. They have 15 downtown wall murals and Grandpa Dan Sawatzky has painted 5 of them. They are truly gorgeous and he is definitely a very talented man.

I agree about Grandpa Dan, and I think we'll make a side trip to Sterling to see those murals.
Jay ... I can't wait to party with yeah. Maybe Aledo's mayor has a 4 wheeler for us. How about Avery and Adamany? You could put out a memo for Aledo's finest, that when they're off duty (no matter what time it is) you'll be ready to party with them.

Just wanted to add... The wall project leaders are David Butler, Dave Corell, Nancy Bennett, Steve Estes, and Bill Masters. THAT in itself has got me excited! Along with live entertainment & a dance, parade, fireworks, antique market and football....what more can you ask? Right here is corn country!

I'd be hard pressed to find a reason to miss a meet like this. The opportunity to paint with any of those project leaders is not something to pass up, IMHO...so I guess the old blue Ford's hittin' the road again early this fall. It'd be good to see some of the people from last year's Lincoln meet again...I hope lots of you get to come back to this one too.....

I know that there will be more painters here than we have hotel rooms for. We have a total of 15 hotel rooms in the big town. With the BIG celebration going on and a group of dignitaries from Spain. We have a sister city in Aledo, Spain that is sending a contingent to help us celebrate, we will definitely be short on hotel rooms.
Monmouth, Illinois is 25 miles to the southeast of Aledo and I have blocked off rooms there. If anyone wants to stay with a host family, just let me know and I will make the arrangements.
In fact, Monmouth is my hometown and I have done more work there than here in Aledo.
I have to get the registration form to Barb, so I have to get going.

I'm also hopin' to be there. What is the actual date? Hey Meyers! Susie Boggess, in your dreams! She already promised me the whole weekend! It's kind of scary to think of attending something that Clark is in charge of but I'm sure we'll have enough paint slingers there to straighten him out!
TRIVIA QUESTION OF THE DAY. . . How many sign painters can you put in a Gator driven by Jay Allen? ANSWER. . . several more than you finish with!
See ya there!

Hey Danny boy! I talked with Suzy's people and they told me since you don't know how to spell her name there was nooo way that she was spending the whole weekend with you.
And Mike, you got her first name right, but you left a g out of her last name. Typical sign painter, right?
Dan, did I say that I was in charge? You must get scared very easily. I think we will have golf carts because the local John Deere dealer had heard about what transpired in Atlanta.

Meyer, You are one funny dude! At first I thought you were dyslexic, but now I not sure what the name is for the condition you have.
Matt, what happened to your hair? I've been growing mine out so I could perhaps give you some of mine.

We got a call from Chris Elliott, "Shoots", today and he said he will be there. He wants to know if Adamany and Avery are going to be there?

Bill, I'm sad to report to you that the Yankee Clipper has been torned down and a new building has been built.
How do you know about the Clipper? I was there once when I was in college and boy was it a dump and the women weren't much to look at either.
Chris the registration form has finally been sent to Barb, so it will be online before too long.

I went to the Yankee Clipper when I went to visit one of my best college buds who was from Rock Island. It was seedy back then, too, but had a quite a reputation as a place to have a wild and crazy time. Of course I was never wild or crazy and I am still a very timid low key individual who has a difficult time partying. And I want you to know I only went along under protest.
Anyway they had a guy named Willy Jones who was a legendary keyboard player who played all the wild and wooly places up and down the Mississippi. He built a contraption that resembled a seat on a farris wheel that had his organ inside it. This thing would spin around and flip upside down while he was playing. On the song "White Lightning" he would been spinning around and when he came to that one part of the song he would stop the machine at the top of the rotation, and yell out "WHITE LIGHTNING!" And then the machine would whirl around some more with him playin' his butt off and his hair floppin' back and forth. It was just too much to handle and everybody just went crazy. I haven't seen anything like that before or since.

Barb now has the registration form under the Future Live Meets. Just click it and you'll find it. I want to apologize for not getting it to Barb sooner. All I have to say is that I still have dial up and the file was just too large for me to send it.
If any of you have questions, I'm just an email away.
Thanks!
