Barb just called me and asked me to post an update on Steve's situation.
The operation to implant the defribulator went smoothly and was a success. At this point he is in the recovery room and awake, but is still quite groggy.
As soon as he is able to navigate, in a few hours, he will be released and Barb will be taking him home.
I was VERY glad to hear her report!!!

Fantastic!!! Good to hear that the procedure went well. I hope that Steve got one of the "new & improved models", and that it gives him even more get up & go.

Wonder if Steve is entertaining the hospital staff with the rear view (through those 'open in the back' hospital gowns) of the famous red thong??? lol

Been a long time since I've been awake at 8am. Truth is I got lots of sleep yesterday. They never actually put me completely out during the surgery, but I was still deep in la la land. I do remember the shock when they tested the device.
I'm feeling pretty sore this morning. An ice pack on the incision seems to help. I'm not to do any heavy lifting or stretching for at least a week in order ro give the electrical leads implanted in my heart a chance to heal.
We had an opportunity to meet a variety of other people with defribs yesterday. One guy was in for his 10 day checkout. They hook you up to a computor that reads the memory inside the device and reports any "incidents." An incident is anytime the defribulator has to do something to regulate your heartbeat.
The guy I talked with reported no problems. You can see the outline of the defrib under his skin, but he reports no discomfort. One nurse referred to our implants as Guardian Angels. That's comforting.
I thought about all of you during the surgery. Everyone in the operating room now knows about Letterville and the "talkative" character that claims to be Mayor. They'll never understand how important this whole Letterhead thing is to us, or the affection and respect that binds us together. Thank You all!
