Yeah Barry, but it's still friggin' hot. [Smile]

I don't mind it since I work inside all day and if I'm outside for any length of time I'm in the lake, but it would be nice to get a gradual increase in temps (95 to 100, 100 to 105, 105 to 110) instead of this "slap upside the head" with the "Instant Easy Bak Oven" kinda heat. [Smile]

Arizona and dry heat is so good for you. I know plenty of people who look like they are in their 80's at 50. Dryed up wrinkled skin, how nice to look so mature [Smile] At least the Aloe plants are plentiful and the spears are great for cutting open and rubbing on your face and I've done that more then once. This is one of the reasons the cities use their mist controlled thinies even on the sidewalks.

Its raining here today in upstate California only 100 miles from Oregon but by the end of this week it will be in the 90's and then time for the swamp cooler. A swamp cooler adds humidity to the air for those days which practically kill you.

I feel for you, Mike, I am pink skinned, & freckled, & there is NO WAY I could take that heat! Guess you guys get used to it, huh?

Our high temp here in sunny Pennsylvania today was about 65*. It's supposed to warm up to around 70 by the end of the week for the Jamestown Semi Annual Gun Raffle. Yee-ha!

Not really. In fact, each year it seems like any particular temperature feels hotter than it did the previous year.

Banana Boat is my friend [Smile] I keep SPF 30 in the medicine cabinet, a tube in my truck, and a tube in my camera bag so I always have it handy. Also have an Aloe plant in the backyard.

Swamp cooler to make humidity 'cause that makes it feel cooler? Please explain this thing to me cause I'm eat up with humidity down here and it sure don't feel cool to me!

And again, there ain't no good reason to live someplace where it's that hot. Move to Canada for the summer.

Patrick -
The average humidity 'round these part this time of year is 15%. You fill the swamp cooler with water and as the air blows over the water it cools the air. Only works up to about 30% humidity and then it just gets sticky.

Dry around here is when the humidity goes below 60%(rarely). Forecast for the next bunch of days is rain with a high of maybe 18C(66F) by Saturday(wooohooo).
I do like it hot and dry, I loved the weather in Vegas, but over a 100F and it start getting a little silly.

Come to Washington DC where the Heat & Humidity are no excuse from wearing Proper Business Attire for 90 percent of the population. Now get on a subway where the air may or may not work.

Then walk 3-6 blocks with a cup of hot coffee in your hand. These nuts are making thier own gravy.

Sat at that gun raffle for 4 hours in the sun, maybe about 75-80*, I got sunburnt, & we didn't win a gun! I was hoping to go turkey hunting with my husband. Anyway, that may not seem hot to you guys, but I actually began to get sunstroke from it!

Once, I was repainting a sign, the 2nd day in 75-80* weather, all day long in the sun with the wind blowing on me all day. I was NOT feeling overheated or anything, but after about 6-7 hours of the sun, by the time I was to pack up my paints, I could hardly think clear enough to get it all put back in the van, let alone drive home. This has happened to me a few times. Could this be my age, or the pink skin & freckles?

Has this ever happened to any of you before?

Bobbie,
once I was paintin' a big ol' (60ft) propane tank . . . it starts out here about 70 at 6am . . .and was to be about 99o+ that day . . .it was around July or August.

and I'm so hot-dog-sure I can handle it you know . . . I'm SO acclimated . . . . . .had'nt ever had a problem with heat before...."ain't-nobody-ever-drowned-in-their-own-sweat"-yada-yada-yada-

So, I had this great plan:
Paint the side facing the sun as early as possible in the morning . . .
then by the time I finish it, the other side would be in total shade during the hottest
middle part of the day . . .

Well, I dried as much condensation off the tank
as possible but still had to wait til' about 9am to start, and so my plan was gonna kind'a back-fire since around 3pm the sun would be hitting the second side way before I could finish it too . . .

Anyway, all I can say is...I realized something was wrong when I quit sweating and was getting cold-chills . . .

I just sat down under the tank for about an hour and sipped water. . . .and yeh, you do sort'a feel like your in a 'fog' or somethin' . . .

I was a little more nervous about it because I was in a pretty remote area, and several yards from the highway, and if I had passed out, it might have been a while before anyone could'a found me.

That was the first time in my life that ever happened to me and it has happened a few times since and it always freaks me out . . .

Always pay attention to clues like these they are pointing to a heat-stroke.

If I ( or any of you) find the list of
HEAT STROKE SYMPTOMS it would be really
timely to post those here again . . .

On the bright side....if you have a lotta freckles, you will be SO tan when they all run together . . . [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Bobbie and Sheila...DRINK LOTS OF WATER! And wear a hat!

IF YA DON"T HAVE TP PEE ON A HOT DAY...YOU ARE NOT DRINKING ENUFF!

On a hot day drinking 2 gallons of water is not unusual! On a hot day take a cooler full of water with you!

In my college days I spent several summers as a Bekins mover, so I'm pretty good at loading a truck. A few years back I flew to Tucson, Arizona to help my sister move to Utah. We got started about 6:00am to beat some of the heat and, since I know how the truck is to be loaded, I spent about 6 hours in the back of the moving van. I was fitting everything tightly together like a massive puzzle. I had been drinking water periodically, but not enough. About noon the heat was really insane, and though I was in the shade of the truck, I was bathed in sweat...until I stopped sweating. I was dry as a bone.

I remember wondering why it was taking so long to make simple choices. I was having a devil of a time matching the appropriate sized box to the appropriate sized space - something I'm usually good at. It troubled me so I went inside. I wasn't even feeling bad...until I took a drink of water. I started shaking and feeling completely wiped out. I had chills and I lay on the floor under a ceiling fan in an air-conditioned living room. Eventually I started to sweat again. I took about 2 hours for me to recover from that close call. It's a wonder I didn't pass out, or worse.

Sheila, that is SOOOOO funny! Do you know, when I was little, I used to think that someday my freckles WOULD run together & i would be tan all over!

Boy, you are so right, Si, I was NOT drinking enoguh that day, i only had to pee twice in 4 hrs, & very little at that! All they had to drink was beer & pop, & I usually drink green iced tea, & I don't drink anymore, so it was pop for me. I drank 3 cans of it, that's all.

Russ & Sheila, That was EXACTLY how I was feeling!!!! Confused & all!!! (No, not because i am blond, either.)

Anybody with a list for symptoms of a sun stroke? It sure would be good to post for ALL of us.

Drinkn' LOTS of water is only way to beat dehydration, if signs of not enough become apparent, you're already in trouble.

Smyptoms include, nauesa, dizzyiness, can't sweat, leg cramps, disorienatation, etc.

Worst thing to drink is anything w/caffine in it, as caffine accelerates proceess by robbing body of fluids, same w/achohl.

Be careful out there in sun, wear a hat, drink plenty of water and don't over-exert.

Been doing it here in desert all of my life, I prefer the desert, heat is your friend if treated w/proper respect.

Ken, Alot of hot air does come from DC. It seems that everyone sends these idiots from each state to create it.

As for DC, they get no say whatsoever even though they pay the same taxes as the rest of us. So no Hot air is actually produced by it's residents or representatives.

..Don't get me started on the traffic clogging tourists.

Add in the 2nd lowest average income in the nation
