Help please. I installed a USB hard disk and since then my sound card just wont respond. I do know the sound card works, as the machine is a dual boot 98/XP and it works fine in xp. The creative disk goes right through to saying it is installing the drivers but when I try to use it no sounds, and the message reads no card installed. Does anyone have any ideas.

I struggled with a similar sound card issue for a year. I had gotten a virus & needed to reinstall Windows...it had worked great previously. I had no drivers for it and tried everything, but nothing that I downloaded worked. I finally stole one out of my other computer. I didn't need sound on that one & it was the same age as my Internet computer. I did have the floppy for that & it worked. Love....Jill

Try deleting the drivers for the card like OP said... it that doesnt work try putting the card in a different PCI slot. If that doesnt work your card is probably burnt.

There seemed to be a conflict of audio devices the TV card was the culprit. Switched slots and voila, with the pain of reinstallation into the bargain.
