SPECTRUM FILM PRODUCTIONS is in the process of putting together a documentary film focusing on PINSTRIPING and it's origins as pertains to custom cars, Von Dutch, Tommy the Greek, the Barris Bros, Dean Jeffries, etc.
I'll keep you informed of progress

Very cool. Maybe some people will see this and realize Von Dutch was NOT a clothing designer!

Staring Leonardo Dicaprio as the young Von Dutch and Angelina Jolie as the woman who was insanely in love with him.

I wonder if they need any "EXTRAS" or "Stand ins"
I wanna be there!

Hope they consider more than just some "chosen few" "NAMES"

Glad to see The Greek's name

How 'bout Ed Roth? Bobbo? Butchr? the guy in Vegas that plays banjo? Yosemite Sam?... etc. etc.

any room for relatively new tallent??
Wiesberger? Alex in wonderland? Cosmic Ray?

or mabe it'll be the typical Hollywood let down B.S.
What are their resources?

I wonder what McDonalds will be giving away with Happy Meal movie toys??... maybe shakin' Eddie the squeek-toy sword striper!

This will be a documentary.....but for the last year, there's been discussions about a real film about Von Dutch, put together by the Coppalas,
and maybe starring Robert Downey Jr. as Dutch....or Nic Cage(a big VonDutch collector).
It's mostly in the 'talking' stages from what I hear.

...I wonder, do babes like Angelina Jolie really go for crusty old (pinstriping) codgers like Von Dutch? ...He was kinda cute though, right?

...I'd bet she thinks that all stripes are stick ons.

Geet; it's being produced by a class act, should be a damn good film. Of course, that banjo player is in it too!!! and his little dog too(probably got more ink than all of us combined-truth be known-crew found him delighful and stuck camera in his face on many an occasion)

I'd like to see a hollywood film on Dutch's life, maybe extra's could actually be those that were in the background then. Spina, Butchr', Bobbo, Sam, Jefferies, Andy, Hannikane, Don King, Nat, Clines, Bradley, Whetstone, Youngblood, Ron Foreman, Dennis Rickletts, Hatton, Greg, Joey, Howie, Spider, Crawford, Burns, Steve Young, and many, many, more that escape my mind at moment. Now!, that would be cool!!! And if they paid too!!! wooooeeeee!!!! Imagine debates on daily basis as to design and color to use....heheheh....CUT!!!

Shakey was the only striper(other than Von Dutch) I ever saw who could run a PERFECT stright line completely around 3 sides of a car without guidelines! I watched him do that very thing to a maroon '40 Ford coupe using emerald green one-shot!

Ya notice how when Frank mentioned the stripers, the west coast ones had last names and the east coast ones had first names. I would like to see a movie where it shows how the West Coast invented everything we all take for granted [Smile]

Bob, when I was young I thought my fathers pinky ring was the size of a golf ball.

It's Weisgerber, Glen Weisgerber.

Has anyone seen Clay White stripe? He is one of the best straight liners that I ever saw. A hell of a nice guy too.
I hope the movie comes out, and isn't just a bunch of hype like most things.

Imagine if his overalls had caught on? [Rolling On The Floor] [Rolling On The Floor]

[For Your Information] (point to make here is that he is famous for the style of signature he used, not the clothing being hawked today-to me it's coincidence that he wore a news-boy hat periodically.) [Cool]

Back in the early '80s, an auction involving Steve McQueen's private stock of stuff took place in Las Vegas. One of the items was the WINTON FLYER car from the movie THE REIVERS. This car was fabricated by Dutch from junk parts and scrap metal for the film. Dutch appeared on stage with the car, and it ultimately brought $30,000!.....and it's not even a real car!!!!!
