This is partially in response to Alicia’s recent comments about recycling scrap vinyl. This ball just turned a year old. It’s not all our scrap...were guessing maybe 80-90%. Some times it’s not practical to put it on the ball.
That’s a 15” roll standing in front of it to show its size. It weighs in at 105 lbs.
Fred can't roll it over anymore.
Going for the world record...anyone got one bigger?
This one might have been bigger...but quite a bit of it was last years A-8.
Not long ago it was completely covered in black reflective...that looked cool. It has some interesting designs in there.
Alicia: Start saving the scrap...sell it for art...I’ve had offers for this one...think about what it would look like cut in half!

I would like to know how you intend to get rid of it when you think it is big enough.

Bill: I’m not sure I intend to get rid of it...It’s been a good conversation piece. I’m sure it can be of some use...paper weight...door stop...lawn roller...

Hi Jeff, A few years ago we were wondering the same thing...what can we do with all the vinyl waste from our jobs. So we wadded it up in "smaller balls" and kept piling it up in a circle and made a 5' tall christmas tree. It was very colorful and we put white lights on it and had our picture made in front of it for a christmas card! We were featured in Signcraft magazine. Finally threw it away but it was quite the conversation piece.
I thought of molding vinyl waste into the shape of a T Rex and call it a Vinylsaurus, but I don't want to scare the children!
What other ideas do you all have? We could have some creative displays if Grandpa Dan gets involved! Sign-cerely, Steve

We did the Christmas tree thing on year. A whole years worth of different shades of greem vinyl went into making the 5' tall monster.
The problem was getting it apart to get it out the door to throw it away. The pieces were so heavy i had to run a rope inside the shop to pull them out with the truck.

In my old shop I saved up lots of scrap red and blue vinyls (any shade) and made a sort of patchwork flag on one of the shop walls. It looked great but unfortunately when the shop moved it had to stay and I never took a photograph of it.

Ricky, don't you have signs to make rather than finding this stuff in the net? WOW!

There was a cool letter sent to SignCraft mag once along with a photo of what they did with scrap vinyl: Shape it onto animal forms and other neat stuff . . .the coolest ones were the dinosaurs . . .(would'nt that be a great momento for customers kids or great 'gifts' for your kids freinds too!)
Jeff, after you get bored with a plain round shape, mabey you could move on to cubes and other shapes . . . mabey make a giant person to stand up in the corner of the shop . . .
You could also shape them into construction 'cones' and use them for your 'on-site' jobs . . .
