Usually when someone is referred by a family member, they are A-OK. Now I know better.
Thursday afternoon a guy comes over. He is opening a pizza joint MONDAY morning. "Can you help me?" he asks. "Your nephew sent me up here."

I explained that the only thing that I could do for him short-notice was a temporary corosign for in the window. Our township does not allow banners. He wanted me to paint his wall. I told him I would be glad to do it in two weeks as I am quite backed up with work, and a wall job that has been delayed for two weekends running due to rain.

I told him that his signs should have been a top priority, and asked if he'd spoken with our township zoning officer. He had, but couldn't remember what the guy said about sizes and permits. He also said he was busy dealing with the EPA over certain issues before he could open his restaurant.

He whipped out a badly-rendered flyer and asked if I could replicate his "logo" on the sign, because the small signs that Pepsi had sent had mispelled his name (probably because they couldn't read his flyer)

I told him for now, if he wanted a 2x6 coro by Monday, he could have his name and phone number on it, no sketch, just a quick legible layout.

After saying he should have brought his wife, because she was "the boss" he agreed to call me back in just a bit with the correct window measurement so I could make the sign for him. I didn't bother with a deposit or even turn on the computer because I listened to my gut.

Sure enough....I drive by his place today. Lo and behold, he has STENCILLED the front of his building, badly, overspray out the wazoo, etc. I can't wait to see if he calls me back...I will tell him that since he is such an accomplished signwriter, he can do his pole sign himself!

His business will last about as long as that spray paint holds up! Hahahaha [Rolling On The Floor] Customers...gotta love 'em.
Love....Jill
