I'm so psyched about this I just had to share.
For those of you who don't know, I have the world's best job. About a year and a half ago, I called the local golf course and asked if they needed any help. I knew the General Manager and the Director of Golf and they were thrilled. They hired me back then to work in the ProShop, answer the phone and make tee times, check players in, etc. Very easy, fun work. The course is about 1/3 mile from my house.
As the months passed, they figured out that I was pretty much the only person in the entire place who has any idea whatsoever about computers. My job has since evolved into a mishmash of computer work, graphics (designing ads, flyers, etc)and as I like to say - whatever anyone else can't figure out how to do, they end up having me do it.
As I said, it's the world's best job. I work whatever hours I want to, when I want to. My husband and my friends get free golf at three fantastic courses which is huge because both my husband and my best friend are rabid golf addicts.
Okay, so here's where it gets better. My bosses called me the other day and asked if I could come in today and talk to them about something. I walked in the door this afternoon and the owner of the course looked at me and says - "I'm so excited about this, you're gonna be great at it!"
Okay, I'm still not sure what they have in mind but I'm looking for more hours so I'm game.
We sit down and they ask me if I'd be willing to take over as their web person. (Get paid to mess around on my computer like I've been doing all day anyway? Well, gee, let me think about it! LOL)
They have a web guru who works out of Las Vegas but he's a super tech guy. I'll be doing all of the hands on, daily updating, maintenance, etc, etc for our three different web sites. I'll also get paid for surfing the web checking out other courses sites - their designs, rates, info.
I mess around on my computer all day and at the end of the week put in for as many hours as I want basically. All my boss said was - if you think you'll be over 40 hours in a week run it by me.
Oh yea, and I got a raise with the promise of another raise in September! Now, how cool is that?

Hey Kimberly - I landed the same kind of thing, on a fluke, doing what I like best and enjoying chocolate too, a few years back. Now I wonder how I ever held down an 8 hour job, in an office, with loads of rules, for years & years, and no time to myself. You are gonna be soooo happy!!!! Congrats - couldn't happen to a nicer person!! Bomba-Dear

The only thing that would make it better is if they provided free chocolate. Good for you, Kimberly! Love.....Jill

Only downside is that you only work 1/3 mile from work. If I drove a Jag, I'd look for a job as far from home as possible...and preferable all weaving roads at that! Congrats, Kimberly!

The best of luck Kimberly, life really can be great. It all could be better if the golf course were here instead of there and I could go.
