M$ will give it to you even if you don't want it. After April 12 it will be a forced update.
Solution You must turn Off Automatic Update section. We will not be able to obstruct "sp2 update" after 12 april, there will be no temporary blocking for any automatic update, Microsoft proposes this solution: You must turn Off automatic Update...
How to turn off Auto updates. 1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then press ENTER. 2. Click the Automatic Updates line, r click , select properties and then select disabled. This turns off Automatic Updates. 3. Click OK
Many will have no problems with SP2. But some running certain networked software or dongled software, especialy dongled software that has no updates will be affected.

I have avoided updating with SP2 because of the problems with certain software that I read about on a thread on this site.
Have those problems been resolved?
I run Photoshop & Illustrator on this PC along with a few Microjunk (I mean Microsoft) programs, Firefox for the net, Quickbooks and a bowling league secretary program.
Should I go ahead and update?

when you go to set Automatic Updates to OFF, it also has an option for MANUAL... should we use this setting instead in case other updates become available that we should install??

microsoft recomends off. Because set to "off" you can still go to MS and select what you wish to get installed manually.
As far as those problems. Your software vendor can be the best source of info.
However, I know of a few programs that will not operate under SP2 and the author has not let out a patch either. They are expecting you to buy their new software. Hence the old could fall under the abandoned software catagory.
