I was just going back into history of past meets and discovered some Wall Dog work. GREAT STUFF!
Question: On average, what kind of price would you charge customers for work like this? I did a repaint of a wall but I know I didn't charge enough. But from the customers information, the original didn't cost that much more just fours years earlier.
If I got a hold (so lucky) of that kind of client, I think I would end up spending my potential profit just renting the fancy scafolding they are using!

sqare foot pricing for walls..depends on the material of the wall...smooth plastered wall basic lettering, no prepainting of wall, $4 SQ.FT. the more detailed graphic is and the rougher the surface...it goes up from there.....if you got to seal the wall, prime it paint it a background color, height, all make it more expensive....

My base price for walls is $100/sq metre (roughly $11/sqft) which includes materials and basic ladder access.
Price goes up depending on the surface ... brick is slower than smooth concrete. Content ... illustrations take longer than letteriing. Access ... I add in hire of scaffolding etc.
The other variation is the size of the job. Small jobs cost more because of overheads, design and set up time. Biggest single job I've done was 2700 sq ft

Thanks, that helps a lot. Chances are, whatever I price, the competition will price it lower. AND "copy" my design.
Let's see, I charged around $500 to repaint a wall, it was 5'x30' which makes it around 1500 sq.ft. That takes it to .30 a square foot. The original painter did it for $800 (with some artwork, red background on rough brick) six years ago, and of course, the owner wouldn't pay more than that, which makes it .53 a square foot.
He could have charged 1200 but that still only take it to .80 a square foot.
Am I really admitting this????
I just thought it was me. It took two days to repaint it and I thought "Am I just slow or am I just not charging enough? How do I make money this way?" Not charging enough.

Either way your still too low. Have some faith in yourself, your talent/abilities are worth something.... You are the one who sets the standard, for both the quality and the price of your work, and if you don't feel like you are getting paid what you deserve it opens the door to cutting corners. Your two days would have been far better off spent on drumming up some equitable business. From someone who has been there....

Yup. I messed up the math. And I usually check my posts two or three times. No wonder it looked so low!
But Kelly is right, it's still too low.
Going back to the basics of wall pricing, I guess there is a minimum price being that if the wall is only 20 sq. ft. or less, you wouldn't want to do it at the $8-10 sq.ft. price tag.
