A great idea Dave, it is especially important now that we do not have as much work for Ray lately. Hoping that Spring will increase our volume. I was an early contributor, before the building was built. Let us make it a sky scraper to be proud of.

Breaking news... I'm speechless. (That's a first)
This is the first I've seen of this.
David, bless your big ol' Hoosier heart. Great idea.
You don't have to move into the "penthouse" of David's building to feel good about helping. For those who don't have anything to contribute to the auction - or those who are too busy, this is a great chance to give. Antyhing is good. One dollar, five dollars, a million dollars, whatever.
Or maybe you're just waiting for the silent auction. That's cool, too. We'll have some great stuff from some well-known sign artists for you to spend the same money on.
A gift is just that - a gift. But you receive one back when you give one first.

Hey Oakie...seen my flag? That picky landlord made me take my banner down, (something about no permit) but he didn't say anything about flying a flag.
Does Oklahoma have a flag?
You do know that Texas is the only state that can fly our flag at the same height of the Stars and Stripes? Yep, it's true. That flag also represents the NATION of Texas after it won its independence from Mexico. Before joining the United States we were the independent nation of Texas.
So there.

What a great bunch of caring folks...we are just blown away with your generosity concerning this matter. There's been alot going on behind the scenes that has made this alot of fun for us and I am still laughing at something Raymond said. Okay now I gotta tell you...somethings about to happen with the "tower"..there'll be a bit of a make over on the penthouse...we've got a construction crew on site even as I write this so as soon as they're finished...well...you'll just have to wait and see. Thanks alot everyone...

Rules are Rules folks...it's time you start realizing that. Mark..thanks for flying a regulation size flag now. Of course Kimberly was only one of many who had concerns about that. I also noticed just now that Nettie has installed an air-conditioner out her window..it can't be on account of these cool tempatures here of late rather that she just can't sleep without the humming of an air-conditioner. http://www.davidbutler.com/highrise.html

“We’ve never been so poor - but never felt so rich”
With that innocent phrase, Ray Guzman innocently set this fundraiser in motion. He did NOT intend to say it as a plea for help. He merely was making a statement about how lucky he and Renata felt for having lived the life they had lived up to that minute - and to not take another day or event - for granted anymore. But I heard something in those words that called me to action.
He and Renata are aware of our collective efforts to raise money to help them through this crisis. What they are unsure of is just how to express their sincere appreciation. Words - to them - seem hollow and lacking the incredible and most sincere gratitude they both feel.
So I’ll say something on their behalf - without getting too revealing or personal - to give you some deeper insights into just what your amazing generosity (and wacky creativity!!) has also accomplished. I’m absolutely sure you’ll hear more from them later.
In talking with Renata the other night she informed me that the strong, brave and kind woman that many of us know, has a weaker side - just like most, if not all of us, do. She felt compelled to conquer those inner demons since she saw that as a requirement in beating the cancer she was afflicted with. She believes that we ALL have the power to make our lives better - or worse - depending largely upon our attitudes and experiences.
How does that relate to what we are doing in raising money to help them through the next 4 months of additional treatments? Simple - though I couldn’t have predicted this since my image of Renata is one of an independent and strong woman - through and through. But she’s human - though for some reason I viewed her as being a little more ‘superhuman’ and able to face anything.
Renata is - in effect - stunned by the outpouring of your generosity to the point that she felt a little unworthy of the efforts being shown. Now she knows differently. Now she can clearly see what her friends in this crazy business really think of her. She is equally amazed at the generosity of those she has not yet met.
As Gary Anderson said to me the other day, “I am constantly amazed at the closeness of this tight-knit group of like-minded and talented individuals. My association with the Letterheads has been one that changed me as a person - for the better”. Granted, if we were neighbors and lived next to each other, we’d probably drive each other nuts - as evidenced by the craziness going on here in the “high-rise” with some of the wacky 'tenants'!!
This whole matter with Renata’s Cancer Fund is more concrete evidence of the generous and giving hearts that we all seem to share as Letterheads. We’ve painted up towns to instill community pride; we’ve donated large sums of money for hospitals (congrats to the Pinheads for your most recent efforts in Milwaukee!!) and we take care of our own.
And your actions here have allowed Renata to see what her friends see in her - and the effort will further hasten the healing process for her. I am so amazingly proud of all of you so much that I have spent more than just a few minutes with tears in my eyes for your amazing, compassionate hearts.
I am a Letterhead. That sets me apart from the mass of humanity - and it is a relationship I will cherish for the entirety of my life.
To David Butler, your creativity and playful nature that created this nutty fundraising effort are the reasons you are held in such high esteem in our craft. God bless you and Susie for your sincerity and involvement.
To Steve and Barb, damn the torpedoes, forget about the infighting and bickering you have to monitor and watch over daily and take pride in allowing this forum to do what it is capable of. Your continued efforts in promoting the Letterheads allowed this all to happen - and we should all say a big thank you - and apologize at the same time for any grief any of us may have given you in the past. It IS about sharing - and your forum should be noted and respected for the good it creates daily.
Little did we know that we could have played a part in helping "save" or strengthen a life.
My sincerest gratitude goes out to each of you who have participated so far. But just you wait for that silent auction in a few short weeks!! You’ll see even more just how incredible this group is.
And maybe, just maybe, you’ll feel a little better about yourself too. I sure do.

Jay, that was a very good post and says it all. This crazy bunch really does stick together and that's what life is all about.
Working on this project for Taylor Jordan and his "wish" is another case of people helping people and Letterheads have been tremendous in that case, too. He's not even in this field, yet this community has helped make his life brighter.
I'm proud to be associated with such a tight-knit group and feel blessed to be able to participate in this fundraiser for Ray and Renata. They are in our prayers.
This building project is fun stuff in itself! Thank you David and Susie.
Now, tell that Englishman to get the dirty laundry off the balcony!

Still no complaints from the Texan...perhaps he's enjoying the shade from Dave "BROKEN LEGS" Smith's clothes line? And Nettie....what kind of bird's nest is that sitting on your window mounted AC? You may want to do a little bird watching out your window there. Rick...that thing about an association? Susie says that's not going to happen! So sit back folks and enjoy your stay...we're doing our best to make you all feel at home here...okay? One more thing and I'll sign off...Dale claims he saw what he describes as a "flying biscuit" buzz by his head while he was out there painting his wall...anybody else see anything strange like that...give the manager's a call downstairs.

Hey, I just looked out my window and that crazy guy from England has his laundry everywhere. What kind of place is this anyway? Where's that landlord? But then I've heard that the landlord is one of those guys that lives back in the sticks and probably thinks that everyone airs their dirty laundry in public.
I tried to talk to that English guy but he sounds really funny - not anything like how we talk down in Texas. He even drives on the wrong side of the road.
And I also noticed that Yearwood has his windows all boarded up. Must be something strange going on in there that he doesn't want us to see. I'll bet the landlord doesn't know all this is happening.
So, what do I do now? I guess I'll just sit here and it will come to me.
There is a positive side about living here - there's this really cute young lady that lives down stairs. She laughs all the time, but she has this huge machine in her apartment that I've heard prints money. Is that legal? If you go to see her just watch out for the bird poop.
P.S. Anyone know how to get in touch with that landlord? I've tried calling, but keep getting this message that he's either running around the country or writing a book, or something. When does that guy work?

Hmmmm...must be a lot going on these apartments than what I see on the URL above. I see the main story of why it is up, but what is going on otherwise?

I can't tell you all of what's going on in all of the apartments Boyd...not nice to gossip about your neighbors. Right now I'm slow smoking some pork, beef and okra (for OP) on my grille - should be ready by dinner time. And I'll have some chocolate fondue for the ladies (they know who I'm talking about.
My only complaints are the guy below me keeps coming out on the balcony in just a red thong...eeewww. And the constant smell of turpentine. Once in a while I hear what sounds like cows mooing around the 22nd floor - none of my business.
Well, gotta run for now...goin to buy a telescope for some star gazing (yeah, right).
Come on up - clear skies tonight - everyone's invited.
