I got a very small town near me that has asked for a price to replace all the street sign in town..
You know, the green ones with white lettering.
Anyway, don't get too excited, this is a very small town..
As I can tell, all of the signs in town are connected to telephone poles by mean of "Hose Clamps" lol.

Anyway, has anyone ever put these signs on telephone pole before ?
I sure would like to come up with something a little more profesional than hose clamps..

And if you know of a good supllier of these green blanks...please let me know, I am going to need approx 50.
To be completly honest, I really don't think there are that many signs lol small town...

Even if it is a small town there has to be a DOT somewhere up the line that has strict rules on this type of stuff.
Might be safest to stick with whats there.

Leonard,
Grimco has the sign blanks, either painted or reflective, .080" or extruded. They also have the correct hardware to mount them on a 2.5" round post. If they're on a telephone pole how do you read them from the other direction?

Around here the utility compny doesn't allow any signs on their poles.
I would also check out Grimco's catalogue for the appropriate blanks and hardware.

I'll throw my vote into the ring for Grimco, too. Great selection of stuff, decent service, and the prices are right in line.

Remember MUTCD Standards, 4" cap height on streets 25mph and below and 6" above. The letters and the backround must be retroreflective and the only reflective vinyl that meets MUTCD specs is 3M. I am not sure but I don't think Grimco meets the current MUTCD.

As far as these signs go..
I'm not removing or installing.
I'm just providing the blanks and new hangers.
After driving to this little town and doing some survey, it is obvious to me that this town has little money to deal with, unless they recently got a grant or something.
And as far as seeing the signs from both directions, well it is impossible like this, and I really don't think the town cares about that..
I need to run some suggestions by them as far as mountings go, but I am willing to bet, that this town has someone on the board that has access to hose clamps at work.. lol
Oh well..
Thanks for the suggestions...
