Hi, I want to use this to restore a nice shiny look to a painted sign. The can says it lasts 2 yrs. Now, does it just oxidize away without making the sign look worse?

Personally, I would wash it real good and just wax it. If it doesn't get the desired result, just strip the wax and clear it your last resort.
My experiences with Sign Finishing Clear are not good.

Only when a clear coat is necessary, little fingers picking at vinyl letters, automotive art, restoration, I use Dupont urethane clears. Otherwise, leave it, The stuff is expensive.
