It's spring time here and the trees are greening up fast. Every spring it amazes me. The constantly changing seasons do the same all year long.

I love windows and looking out of them. It's a consolation prize for not always being out of doors.

In my office I have large windows. Over 20 feet wide, they curve around the front wall of the studio. They arch up in the center as well offering an expansive view of the breathtaking landscape around.

Most offices I have seen, even ones with gorgeous views have the desks facing AWAY from the windows so the occupant doesn't get to see the view EXCEPT when they are NOT doing work. It always seemed backwards to me.

So when I built my new office the desk was built right into the wall, curvng underneath the big windows. Everytime I glance up from my work I get to see the view.

When I have clients in my office they sit in a second office chair on the same side of the desk as me. And that works out fine as I am often showing them things on my computer screen in any case. They also get to enjoy the same view.

Now I just gotta get busy and clean those windows one more time.

I have a large set of french doors in my office that opens out onto the patio and backyard. I have oriented my desk so that I am facing that way. I have considered putting my desk on the other side of the room but then my view would be more obstructed.

Having my desk where it is now, I can see my daughter and her dog playing in the backyard near her playhouse - it makes me smile to see them running around having such a good time. They could play back there by themselves for hours.

I'm facing away from the window when at the computer and it's for good reason:

It forces me to get up, away from the computer every once in a while. [Smile]

Of course, my view of the lake and mountains is now obstructed by a new house that was just built next door so it's not like it even matters anymore - now I just leave the house! [Smile]

Wow, Karyn, that is beautiful!!! Glad you shared that pic. Are you in the mountains, or is that just a nice hollow we are looking at?

My husband keeps grumbling about the snow, but I would rather see the beauty in it while it is here. It makes it a lot easier, too, while you are waiting for spring.

One thing I always loved about the leaves on the trees & brush being gone- you can see into the woods more, the animals & such!

Now that is really something... Look at that beautiful pic of Kimberly's little girl sitting in the sunshine with no sleeves, then look at Karyn's pic of that beautiful snowy hill.

Both pictures were taken today. We are all living in such different environments, all at the same time, conversing with each other, & the weather is so different where each of are right now. Isn't that something?

My office is temporarily in my washroom, but thankfully, is NOT where I spend most my time . . .I do have large living room windows with a view of the open feild and it's pecan trees, if I could'nt get outside and look across the huge field behind my house or across the front street and beyond to the horizon of trees over there I'd go mad. Thankfully, there are also a few nice high hills around with the most dramatic views across the valleys . . .

Did you know it's good for your eyesight to look at great distances on the horizon?? I read somewhere that most of us never look beyond, or see things that are over a coupl'a hundred feet away.

It's also a good analogy for your mind, since looking 'down the road' and seeing the 'big picture' helps prevent tunnel vision... [Wink]

With the 70-75 degree weather we've been having the last couple weeks, I've been working from my Powerbook out in my garden. The weather has been so strange that the croci, daffodils and some trees are already done blooming here....
