What A great time! Learned a lot of little techniques- Not tricks mind you, techniques. Joe Cieslowski has a wealth of knowledge and we only had 2.5 days to tap it. We worked on oval HDU panels with carved ribbon & pictoral. Got educated on a great sharpening method. Quickys on Mold making and a less subjective way to judge when gold size is ready to gild. Very educational for me.
ANDDD we had great fun, all 7 of us. Well, 8 if you count Joe's wife, who, as Bill Riedel said, could make my salad any time. Food was great!
Fun fun time, even though there were 3 Canadians there. They must teach a funny class up there on clichés that Roger MacMunn got great grades in. He has more fun talking than a 3 legged dog in a warehouse full of fire hydrants and he's not dumb enough to sand paper a crocidiles belly in a phone booth.
Erica- we all expect to see a picture of that carved tree at some point. You forgot your shoes also.
And Frank- You forgot your carved cat. I have it now.
Thanks Joe (and Everwood for the HDU) for such a great time. Socializing aint so bad.

What a privilege to host so many fine folks! Every meet is certainly unique and that is probably the reason I keep doing it. I changed the format a little this year and I think it allowed more time to make chips......they were EVERYWHERE....including on Jack (Jack is our cat)
Special thanks to John Meeks and Everwood! You have a fine product there and we really appreciate the support.
One correction on Phils post....we learned a less "subjective" method on testing for the propper tack.
Now I have to catch up on my orders and ship everyone the items they left behind.
Joe, Makin Chips and Havin Fun!

Joe is a master of his craft, and at the same time is incredibly generous about sharing his knowledge - and that is much appreciated! His work is stellar and of course he makes it look easy, 'till you try it yourself. I'm pretty novice, so my head and my notebook are quite full - and I'm rarin' to keep carving.
And what a great bunch of people, I loved meeting each of you, hearing anecdotes, receiving tips and advice, laughing 'till it hurt... what a time, I hated to leave. Murray, Rodger, Frank, Phil and Jason, I look forward to seeing each of you again in the future. When I get the tree painted and can figure out how to post it, I will. Phil, whatcha mean "fun time EVEN THOUGH Canadians were there"? To BE Canadian is to be fun! Sheesh!
Joe and Diane, thanks so much for your wonderful hospitality. I felt very welcome and comfortable, I ate so well I still feel stuffed, and I loved your house - I'm sure you're glad to have it back and not have so many chips tracked everywhere. I doubt Jack misses us much!
I realized I forgot my boots around Plattsburgh, when I stopped to get gas and stepped in a puddle! I'll reimburse the mail cost, I promise!
And the foam was great to carve, thanks so much, John at Everwood, for the samples.

Just re-read my post and it IS full of cliches - not funny ones though. But I meant it all. Had a swell time and I REALLY hope I never get Parkinson's.
