I've just been playing with the NASA World Wind software. The amount of geographic and other information is truely amazing. http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/
At 170mb or so for the installation download it's not something I'd recommend on dial-up, also a large amount of info ocmes down the line from the server as required so a high speed connection is pretty much essential. Now all I have to do is get the kids of the PC so I can have another go.
